People will inflict humiliating defeat to communal, selfish parties: Rather Excelsior Correspondent BUDGAM, Apr 6: Saying that the current Parliamentary election in the country is a deci- sive battle between secular and communal forces, the senior NC leader and the Minister for Finance A R Rather today called upon the people to rise to the occasion to strengthen the secu- lar forces so that communal forces never raise their ugly head and the people will live a peaceful life in a free atmos- phere of communal harmony. He said it was most unfortu- nate that some political parties like PDP in the State have indulged in a secret alliance with the communal forces whose Prime-ministerial candi- date Narendra Modi was responsible for the worst ever communal riots and blood shed in Gujarat adding that this will remain the darkest chapter in the history of India. Speaking to a mammoth public meeting at Waragam in Khan Sahib constituency, organized in favour of Dr Farooq Abdullah, who is NC- Congress coalition candidate for Srinagar-Budgam Parliamentary constituency, Mr Rather said people of the State have always rejected communal forces and this time also they will defeat nefarious designs of communal and anti national people by inflicting crushing defeat to them in the current elections. He said that PDP is the brain child of BJP to gag voice of the people from being heard at the highest fora of democracy. The basic objective of the hidden understanding between the two parties is to divide the secular votes to pave way for commu- nal and selfish parties to grab the power, he added. Mr Rather said NC is the real representative of the people of all the three regions of the State which has always fought for the rights and honour of the people. He said this party has withstood test of the times and offered supreme sacrifices but never let its people down. Coalition safeguarded public interest: Kichloo Excelsior Correspondent KISHTWAR, Apr 6: Minister of State for I&C, R&B, Tourism and Home Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo today said that Coalition Government lead by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah always safeguarded the public interest during his over five year tenure despite the odd problems faced by the state on law and order front. While addressing series of public meetings and road shows at Cherji, Kwartangi, Dool, Bandrina, Huller and adjoining areas of Kishtwar town, Kichloo said that the good always triumps over bad and added that despite all their efforts the forces who want to hoodwink the peace and tranquility of the state fail in their mission. He said that Coalition Government lead by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah always talks about peace and develop- ment of the state and said that same can be witnessed on ground. He said that State Govetment on one side is facing the threat from anti national elements and at the same time from communal elements who tries to put state on fire. He said that under present regime, the state is moving fast towards development and added that Coalition Government always put main thrust on devel- opment of rural areas. He said that Government of India has accorded sanction to the funds for upgradation of Malipath to Kuleed Chowk road and added that once the weather improves, the GREF authorities will start work on this road stretch. He said that Government has taken strong note of use of sub standard material in con- struction of Batote-Doda- Kishtwar National Highway and assured the people that guilty will be punished in accordance to law. Sadhotra appeals people to vote for coalition candidates Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Apr 6: Minister for Planning and Development, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today appealed the people of the State to beat the self interested politi- cal groups, whose aim is to grab power by sacrificing the com- munal harmony and peace in the State, and vote for coalition can- didates. While addressing election rally at Flyan-Mandal, here today, Sadhotra appealed the people to make their choice for 2014 Lok Sabha elections as per the performance of Coalition Government and the role played by the opposition parties in the development of the State. He advised the people not to be misguided and exploited by self interested political groups whose only aim is to grab the power going to any extent and sacrificing the peace and tran- quility in the State. While targeting the BJP, he said BJP is using religious lines to polarize the voters in their desperate attempt to book a seat in Parliament, which however is visible with the statements of BJP National leaders while addressing the election rallies throughout the countries. Making scathing attack on BJP, Sadhotra said that it has failed to deliver as opposition party and has betrayed the confi- dence of the people of Jammu and now in order to cover up their failures they are misguid- ing people of State for petty political gains. He said people of State have a bitter experience of BJP’s role during Amarnath land row resulting in hatred between Jammu and Kashmir region and putting people of the State to great loss and biggest ever set back to developmental activities in the State. Congress committed to national unity, integrity: Bhalla Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Apr 6: Senior Congress leader and Minister for Housing, Culture and Sports Raman Bhalla today said that unlike Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress stands for unity and integrity of nation. He said that such communal forces by creating unnecessary hype were trying to woo voters but had nothing substantial to offer to the people. It was because of visionary policies of Congress-National Conference (NC) coalition in Jammu and Kashmir that ample job opportunities were created. Massive industrialisation cou- pled with self help schemes and initiation of new mega projects all clubbed together generated ample job opportunities for the educated unemployed youth, he said. Bhalla added that people are going to reject divisive forces in ensuing Parliamentary elections and that would unveil their nefarious designs. He said that the country needs a stable Government which only Congress can give. He was addressing series of public meetings at Janipur, Gandhi Nagar, Chatta Pind, Symbal Camp, near General Bus Stand, various sectors of Nanak Nagar, Trikuta Nagar and Kunjwani where he sought votes for Congress. He said that liber- al funding by Central Government also helped state progress by leaps and bounds. He asserted that Jammu and Kashmir was virtually doomed but Congress-National Conferenec (NC) alliance brought it out of the mess and created conducive atmosphere where development could take place. He said that empowering Panchayats, creating new administrative units, setting up polytechnic colleges, develop- ing mega infrastructure, con- necting rural roads, developing cities at par with other cities of the nation because of projects like JNNURM, MNREGA, SSA and NRHM State witnessed massive progress and people in large numbers were benefitted. He urged people to vote for party candidate from Jammu- Poonch Parliamentary con- stituency Madan Lal Sharma and send a credible representa- tive into the highest decision making institution of the coun- try. He said certain communal forces were hell bent upon to destabilize country which Congress will never allow to happen. These forces which are inimical to peace and prosperity had always been talking of dividing the nation on regional and religious basis. In many areas peace was vitiated by nar- row mindedness and divisive policies of BJP, due to which people stand divided but Congress is committed to unite people and not divide them.
