KRTA, AIBCU demand meeting with Parliamentary delegation Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Sept 1: Various organizations have demanded that they be also invited by All Parliamentary delegation visit- ing State on September 4. Kashmiri Refugee Traders Association (KRTA) and All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU) in their separate state- ments have demanded that their views be also sought as they too are the victims of the turmoil. KRTA in a statement issued here, today said that they have been worst sufferers of the tur- moil after losing their business due to mass exodus and turmoil in Kashmir as they were forced to leave the Valley in 1989-90. The Association alleged that successive State and Central Governments failed to redress the problems of displaced traders and agriculturists and take measures for their rehabili- tation with the result these traders and agriculturists have been facing hardships in making their body and soul together. The Association demanded that the members of displaced traders and agriculturists be allowed to chose their represen- tatives to meet the Parliamentary delegation to seek redressal of their problems. AIBCU leaders Prof Kali Dass and M R Bangotra said that the political parties are not the ultimate organizations whose views can be sought on the prevailing situation in the State to suggest measures in resolving the crisis but there are registered and recognized social organizations including AIBCU of the State and senior citizens whose views can also be sought. Youth consumes poison Excelsior Correspondent SAMBA, Sept 1: One youth consumed poison at his resi- dence in Rangoon camp in Ramgarh area of Samba district late last night under mysterious circumstances. He has been identified as Hardeep Singh, 30, S/o Mahander Singh of Rangoor Camp, Ramgarh. Police said he was first shifted to Ramgarh Hospital for treatment where from doctors referred him to GMC Jammu where his condition is stated to be serious. The Ramgarh Police has registered a case under relevant Sections of the law. Driver arrested with banned polythene bags Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Sept 1: Police arrested a driver along with banned polythene bags. As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Nehru Market police post laid a naka and intercepted a Mahindra Bolero bearing regis- tration number JK21A-5146. During checking, police recovered 10 quintals banned polythene bags from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Karan Choudary, son of Ronak Ram, a resident of Kaintpur, tehsil Vijaypur. A case under Section 188 RPC has been registered at Gandhi Nagar police station and investigation started. Theft in bank employee’s house Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Sept 1: Thieves decamped with cash, gold and silver ornaments from the house of a bank employee in Gadigarh area, falling under the jurisdic- tion of Satwari police station. As per police sources, bur- glars struck in the house at Gadigarh in broad day light and decamped with cash, gold and silver ornaments. The owner of the house, who is a bank employee, report- ed the matter to police. A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Satwari police station and man- hunt has been launched to nab the thieves. Govt school sans water supply Excelsior Correspondent UDHAMPUR, Sept 1: A Govt school at Kharorian village, having more than 100 children, is without water supply for the last one week. Reports said the water supply to Govt Girls’ Middle School, Kharorian in Udhampur Zone, has been snapped for the last over one week. The children and school staff has been forced to fetch drinking water from a spring which is about 2 kms away. The School headmaster Rajesh Sharma alleged that he took up the matter with the PHE Supervisor and JE concerned Mr Maqsood but no action has been taken. The water supply could not be restored till today. He said that he was using his own car for fetching water in buckets along with students from the spring. The school water tank is lying dry and the toilets have turned dirty without water usage. He sought intervention of concerned SE and XEn PHE. Migrant employees block road, raise slogans against Govt Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Sept 1: Demanding their absorption in various Government depart- ments in Jammu, Kashmiri Pandit employees who fled from Kashmir valley due to the alleged stone pelting by mobs on their transit camps, today blocked road and burnt an effigy of the State Government. As their protest entered the 51th day today, more than 1600 Kashmiri Pandit employees blocked the Talab Tillo road for several hours and raised slogans against the Government, alleg- ing that it was not serious about their plight. Accusing the Government of “step-motherly treatment” towards them, the protesters demanded adjustment to pack- age employees in Jammu till a comprehensive plan for their return and rehabilitation was framed. “Not a single official from the Government has visited the protest site to talk to us. We are being given the step-motherly treatment,” chairman of the All Parties Migrant Coordination Committee (APMCC) Vinod Pandit said. Pandit said the situation in Kashmir was “not conducive” for the return of the employees and “they have decided to return only when the entire community is rehabilitated in the Valley”. More than 1600 Kashmiri Pandit employees who were working in various Government departments under the Prime Minister’s rehabilitation pack- age in the Kashmir valley returned to Jammu after their transit camps were allegedly attacked by stone pelting mob after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani on July 8. Man found dead Excelsior Correspondent UDHAMPUR, Sept 1: A idle aged man was found dead under mysterious circum- stances near Devika temple, here today. Identity of the deceased could not be ascertained. He was found lying near Devika temple and on being informed by some locals, Police shifted him to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors declared him as brought dead. Later, the dead body was shifted to hospital mortuary for identification and legal for- malities. VRS workers of SRTC meet Minister Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Sept 1: The VRS given employees of SRTC met the Transport Minister Sunil Sharma and Assembly Speaker, Kavinder Gupta here today and stressed for release of their pending arrears. Led by Dev Raj Bali, pres- ident of the association, the members urged upon the MoS Transport Sunil Kumar Sharma to release their pending arrears. Railways offers Rs 10 lakh insurance cover for train travel NEW DELHI, Sept 1: The railways today launched a scheme allowing a person to get an insurance cover of upto Rs 10 lakh on booking a train ticket online by paying less than one rupee. A person booking a train ticket through the IRCTC website will be able to opt for travel insurance cover for a premium of 92 paise only. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu had in his budget speech, announced that the railways will provide optional travel insurance for train journey at the time of booking. The new facility will be avail- able to all passengers, excluding those travelling by suburban trains while booking online irre- spective of the class. The cover will not be applicable for children upto 5 years of age and foreign citizens. It will be for pas- sengers holding tickets such as con- firmed, RAC and wait-listed ones. The scheme offers trav- ellers/nominees/legal heirs a compensation of Rs 10 lakh in the event of death or total dis- abilty, Rs 7.5 lakh for partial dis- ability, upto Rs 2 lakh for hospi- talisation expenses and Rs 10,000 for transportation of mor- tal remains from the place of a train accident or where an unto- ward incident, including terrorist attack, dacoity, rioting, shootout or arson, occurs. JAMMU, Sept 1: Variousorganizations have demandedthat they be also invited by AllParliamentary delegation visit-ing State on September 4.

Kashmiri Refugee TradersAssociation (KRTA) and AllIndia Backward Classes Union(AIBCU) in their separate state-ments have demanded that theirviews be also sought as they tooare the victims of the turmoil.
