About the Awards6



winner, the Clarence Valley Business of the

Year Award, is crowned.

To raise the profile of the awards and to

increase business involvement, the People’s

Choice Award was introduced in 2013 which

relies on the public voting for their favourite

business to determine the winner.

This year, the People’s Choice Award was

expanded to recognise good customer ser-

vice with the introduction of Favourite Em-

ployee to sit alongside the Favourite Busi-

ness Award.

The Daily Examiner has been the proud

major sponsor for the last two years.

SINCE 2006 the Clarence Valley Busi-

ness Excellence Awards has recog-

nised excellence in business.

These Awards were established from an

initiative of the then Grafton City Council

(now Clarence Valley Council) who invited all

five Chambers of Commerce to join.


Inc was formed as a not for profit committee

to oversee the staging of the awards and

operate under the umbrella of the NSW

Business Chamber.

Today, 16 Awards are presented across

diverse industry categories and an overall

To ensure consistency and fairness in judg-ing, a standardised matrix is used across allcategories.

The People’s Choice Award is not judged butrather decided by popular vote by the public.

Nominations are taken and then one roundof voting follows for the public to vote ontheir favourite business and employee andthe one with the most votes wins.

All information submitted in an entry isstrictly confidential and the judges sign aconfidentiality agreement.

the region are selected to judge the awards,

except the People’s Choice Award which is
