MASTERING ENGINEERSChoosing the right engineer for your music is not as easy as it used

to be. Some people think you can get away with downloading a

software from the internet to do the mastering yourself. Well, sure,

you could. But that wouldn’t be a good idea. Why? Because it takes

a trained ear with years of experience in many different music genres

to develop the professional tricks and techniques required for a se-

nior mastering engineer. This person should have no less than ten

years of experience working as a mastering engineer in order to give

your music the chance to become a gold album. It all depends on

how long you want your music to last. If you want your music to last

20 years, hand it to a 20 year professional. If you want it to last less,

well you see where this is going. Here at Cutting Room, all of our

engineers have more than 10 years of experience behind them.

THE D-CINEMA EXPERIENCEIn 2010, Cutting Room invested 2 million Swedish crowns to develop an in-house digital cinema that could encode up to 4k quality video with 3D stereoscopic support for the creation of digital cinema packages. These packages contain mate-rial for HD Theater, DVD, BD, DVB & Web video fi les. We also invested in the Dolby Digital Cinema Processor CP750 with Dolby Surround EX™ decoding. The expansion was intend-ed as an addition to the services of video restoration, DVD & BD productions we have provided since 2005.

ABBA Gold Special Edition was restored here in our D-Cinema. Niklas Hammarbäck was in charge of the restoration process of all of the music videos plus bonus material.

EXPECT MOREWe have been mastering for vinyl since 1978, therefore we know the techniques needed for creating that special vinyl sound. Through the years we have invested in new technologies and developed new techniques to provide that same special sound to all the music formats. Today, you can have your music on vinyl as well as CD, and include a mastered version for streaming on the internet. Each of these formats are mastered differently, which is why we always ask what format your music is intended for. The cost for master-ing a vinyl is the same as what it costs to master for CD, plus we can do special tricks to the music so it sounds equally as good streamed from the web. And so you know, it doesn’t have to cost a lot of money to have a good quality sound. Mix and match your formats without limitations right here with us at Cutting Room.

DIGITAL CINEMA SOLUTIONSThe digitization of the film industry is exploding and the Scandi-navian film companies need a strong and knowledgeable partner with the capacity to deliver high quality digital movie packages. Whether it’s straight to theater 2k or 4k film, film restoration, or the end result being DVD or Blu-ray our D-Cinema will handle all those needs. In 2010, Cutting Room invested in an in-house digital cinema complete with video and audio mastering for film. This will be the first investment in Sweden in a full in-house studio, which follows DCI standards and includes 7.1 audio mastering with our senior mastering engineers. For the last ten years we have worked with digital postproduction in the form of Blu-ray, DVD and digital streaming with clients like Universal, SF, Atlantic Film, Sony Music, RAW Comedy Club, Folketsbio and others. We are happy to be able to offer our clients even more options with digital solutions.

TAKING IT ALL THE WAYIn our mission to annihilate bad sound we’re quite picky when choosing our collaborators. We want to make sure it sounds and looks great all the way. Not only when you’re walking out our door, but also when you’re enjoying your new CD, DVD or Blu-Ray back home in your own living-room. Or when when it’s played on the radio or the web.

When deciding to broaden our services to replication, Me-diaPlant was our preferred choice of partner. With their par-amount reputation within optical media manufacturing, we always know that your production is in safe hands. They’ve been copycats for three decades
