Another year has past and as we reflect on the cattle industry, one thing remains constant, good calves

bring the premiums. We have a set of bulls in the 2014 offering that will help ensure you get your share of

the profit from the cattle industry. We research and select the top genetics that will continually improve our

cowherd, which in turn gives us the opportunity to offer you some of the best Angus genetics available.

Our cows have worked harder this winter with more snow and colder fall weather, which is a testament to their

foraging ability. The feeding program has remained the same. The home raised, rolled oat based ration at about

1% body weight and good free choice hay, has allowed our bulls to perform, grow and mature at reasonable rates

with their future in mind.

Our red and black bulls are comparable in genetics and performance. Our Cutting Edge bulls are selected from

over 40 bulls retained from a 200 head cow herd base. These bulls are pail fed, leading them to be docile, while

maintaining their soundness and activity in a large group.

As this sale takes place when most of the bulls are just over 12 months old, and our weather can be unpredictably

cold, the bulls may need to return to the farm after the sale for semen testing when they have matured more and

the weather is more favorable. Delivery to your farm will follow.

Sale. First we would like to thank all the bidders and buyers at

our sale last year. We sincerely appreciate your business. This

year we would like to welcome Jenna Olson, who is now sole owner

of the Silvertop Simmentals name. She has one very good bull calf

in the sale this year. You will see that we also have two more new

members in what Lee and I call the “Junior Divison” of the sale,

Will and Wyatt Bradford. It is so encouraging to see young people

showing interest in the cattle industry . . . they are our future.

Speaking of futures, we hope that the bulls we have on offer will

find a future at your farm. Our cow herd is a result of 24 years of

breeding for the traits that we want in cattle. Through A.I. and select

breeding bulls we have choosen the genetic traits of production,

calving ease, maternal traits, conformation and temperament.

Hello, I’m Jenna Olson of Silvertop Simmentals. I live at Rimbey, Alberta; I’m thirteen years old and I love working with the cattle. Thanks to my Dad, Kim Olson, I was given the opportunity to purchase a beautiful black white-faced cow named LHVS Willow 12W from Lee and Tina Robson of Lockhart Valley Simmentals and that is where I got my start. Willow has had two heifer calves and on January 31, 2013, she had her first bull calf which I named Silvertop Cash 1A. Cash looked like a winner so I put the halter on and began leading him when he was a week old. I have continued to work with him since that time. a small group of bulls that I feel will be

very low maintenance easy doing group

dispositions, hair coats and were easy

calving. The bulls are not pushed hard

in the feed bunk, they are fed a ration of

hay, silage, bull pellets and a little grain

and I am confident that they will go out

and work. The bulls are on a total herd

health program and have been vaccinated

(with booster) for foot rot prevention

(Fusogard). The bulls once again are

being fed along side the Lockhart bulls.
