Having enjoyed a fruitful 2013, we are delighted to be entering the second quarter of 2014 with continued growth and an exceptionally optimistic outlook for the future. By working closely with new and existing clients, our teams across the globe have identified fresh opportunities for us to be a part of. To be in the position where operators are continuing to adopt and recognise the benefits of our ‘cradle to grave’ waste management packages, is a great place to be.

This quarter will see the whole company concentrate on implementing and launching a wide range of global projects. Amidst worldwide growth, we are particularly delighted to have recently won another contract in the Middle East in collaboration with ESNAAD, underpinning our continued commitment to the region. European growth continues to forge ahead, with our onshore processing capabilities more than doubling at our Norwegian base and our second offshore processing contract coming to fruition. These are considerable milestones for the company, demonstrating our capabilities in the NCS.

It’s equally as great to see our West Africa focus also paying off, having recently secured two offshore processing contract awards in Angola.

Our abilities to provide sector-leading services around the world not only see us effectively and efficiently deliver solutions to our clients, but also uphold us as some of the industry’s very best. We are delighted to have had our TCC RotoMill® Technology take home the environmentalist award at the recent Offshore Achievement Awards – an absolute testament to the global talent we have here at TWMA.

We continue to bolster these home-grown expertise, having recently launched safety-training courses in Norway and Aberdeen as an officially accredited IOSH training provider. With safety at the heart of our operations, this will be of particular benefit to the company as we may now stipulate training timetable flexibility where it was once outsourced.

Finally, following on from our success last year, we look forward to exhibiting once again at Houston’s OTC from 5-8 May under the Scottish Pavilion. For the opportunity to discover more about our technologies, our plans and to meet some of our representatives, we hope you can join us on stand #2165

The deal follows Glynn’s recent success in the Dutch Supercar Challenge Championship last season, and will contribute towards his expenses as he rises to another challenge.

Announcing the new sponsorship, TWMA Sales Director, Rob O’Neill comments, “We are delighted to be supporting such a talented and aspiring young driver as he approaches this crucial stage in his career. Although we are a global company we feel it’s still very important to hone local talent, and TWMA can see that Glynn is certainly ‘one to watch’. I myself am an avid racing fan, and follow all the major circuits as well as the smaller ones. Just by watching Glynn race, it is clear that he will go far, and TWMA are thrilled to be a part of that journey.”

Glynn will be revving up against well-established drivers including Gordon Shedden and Matt Neil.

He comments, “I have a long standing relationship with Rob and the team at TWMA, having previously joined them for client events at Knockhill. After my success last year the guys were keen to get on board and support me through this year’s season. I am looking forward to being up against some tough competition from the other racing drivers at BTCC this year and hope to do myself and my sponsors proud.”

The opening race of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship will take place on the 29-30th March. The competition encompasses a major UK tour with several races taking place throughout the UK on ten different racetracks between March and October. The races will be aired live on ITV4.

Aberdeen’s rising motoring superstar, Glynn Geddie is set to take on the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) later this year following a helmet sponsorship deal with global oil and gas waste management company, TWMA.

TWMA granted increased onshore processing licence

TWMA’s Mongstad, Norway facility

West Africa focus pays off

Capacity more than doubles at the company’s Norwegian base TWMA has been awarded an increased processing licence by the Environmental department of the Norwegian Authority. The licence, allocated to the company’s Norwegian base in Mongstad, will see pro-cessing capacity more than

double, from 30,000 tons to 75,000 tons per annum.

This granted application follows significant investment by the firm to ensure strict regula-tions were met to facilitate the additional waste, as stipulated by the Norwegian Authorities. TWMA worked to ensure addi-tional produced waste fractions, namely recovered oil, water and rock solids could be facilitated. The company also acted to cer-tify that water disposal to sea,

any resulting odour or increased noise levels were aligned with the necessary guidelines.

Leif Ove Svensen, TWMA’s Scandinavian regional man-ager comments: “We are really pleased to see this licence come to fruition, having worked closely with the Norwegian Authority to implement modifications at our facility. The most significant of these changes includes the implementation of our on-site

Bioplant. This now allows us to effectively and efficiently handle recovered water in-house instead of contracting work out to a third party supplier.

“This award also comes at an ideal time for the company, positioning us strategically as we focus on various waste streams. The ability to now manage more than double what we could before enables better flexibility when dealing with large waste volumes – something which

helps to elevate our position in the Norwegian market.”

TWMA’s licence will run for the foreseaeable future, providing it continues to meet requirements as set by the Norwegian Authority, with the Mongstad plant receiving audits on an annual basis.

Following the successful completion of its first offshore processing contract in Cameroon, TWMA is delighted to announce two onshore processing contract awards in Angola.

The agreements, worth up to a total of $100million USD, will see TWMA pioneer the concept of offshore processing in this rapidly developing environmentally sensitive frontier. This will occur through the design, installation and operation of tailored solutions on-board two new-build drillship’s to support a major operator’s drilling campaign.

Underlining TWMA’s global growth plans, this latest contract – a one-year, five well campaign, with five one year extension options, will see TWMA operational on two projects in the area during 2014, whilst also establishing a new onshore support facility in Luanda. Plans for this facility are currently well underway.

“Having already completed our first offshore processing contract for Glencore Exploration Cameroon Ltd, TWMA is gaining significant traction in West Africa. We are now seeing projects in other parts of the region such as

Congo, Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Ghana and are likely to be given the go ahead in the next quarter,” said Rob O’Neill, Sales Director.

“As legislation continues to evolve in West Africa, operators are becoming increasingly aware of the environmental impact of their drilling operations. As a result, many are turning to experienced suppliers such as TWMA, to source the best environmental and operationally efficient solutions available.”

What is often overlooked at the start of the oil and gas projects is the management of surplus materials produced throughout the life-cycle of the operation.

Commonly described as waste, this is perhaps a misconception, as with the right solution in place, many of the components of these materials can be recovered for reuse or recycling.

From initial conception to decommissioning, one of the biggest challenges facing the energy industry today is the management and reduction of materials produced not only from drilling, but from day-to-day operations. The upstream and downstream oil and gas industries generate a wide variety of bi-products and effective industrial management of these materials is becoming increasingly costly and time consuming.

Operators seeking to maximise operational efficiencies and minimise environmental impact across their operations are faced with a variety of options when it comes to handling and treating their waste materials, however TWMA offers an alternative with its unique combination of drilling and environmental solutions.

TWMA’s aim is to reduce the industry’s reliance on landfill as a disposal option. Its ‘reduce, reuse, and recycle’ philosophy has led to the introduction of a range of solutions to handle a variety of materials, from slops and sludges to general and hazardous wastes.

TWMA’s operations, facilities, processes and systems have been specifically designed to meet the most stringent environmental standards within the global oil and gas sector, and its service offering

encompasses all of the waste management, industrial cleaning and specialised services and support required to meet today’s challenges.

The key to efficient waste management and reduction is to identify the source prior to developing and implementing a waste minimisation plan. TWMA develops tailored waste management strategies to suit project specific requirements and operates a cradle to grave approach for the recovery, handling, treatment, reuse and recycling of materials.

TWMA’s solutions aim to maximise the working life of assets. It has developed a range of services to manage cleaning and disposal projects - from vessel and onshore tank cleaning to pit cleaning in offshore and remote locations. Its asset integrity packages ensure essential assets owned by operators and drilling contractors, such as FPSOs and supply vessels, remain in the best possible condition.

Managing these wastes is an increasingly important consideration of oil and gas operations, whether onshore or offshore, and TWMA’s services are progressively being utilised to deliver an all-encompassing solution to its clients.

By integrating its solutions, TWMA can maximise reuse and recycle options to minimize the volume of wastes disposed at landfill. Its services can be tailored to deliver the optimum project solution for operators’ complete waste management operations.

TWMA currently has international onshore processing facilities in the UK, Norway and Egypt. Its primary processing locations house all the necessary facilities and supporting infrastructure to deliver an all-encompassing service to its clients.

The company has extensive experience in providing advice and assistance to the energy sector in respect of global and regional environmental issues and provides a variety of solutions that can be implemented throughout the full-cycle of a project.

TWMA delivers a litter of bins for Ashley Road Primary School

REGIONAL FOCUS

With the ability to now process drilling waste at-source, we are equipped to help minimise the environmental impact of offshore operations by further treating drill cuttings and associated fluids offshore.

TWMA recently sponsored a new recycling initiative at an Aberdeen city centre primary school. TWMA provided Ashley Road Primary School with 10 new litter bins, giving pupils a chance to put ‘theory into practice’ following a recent litter and recycling project they had undertaken.

The brightly coloured, mushroom shaped bins have been strategically placed around the school grounds for children to use and their novelty nature has seen a rise in their use across the playground.

TWMA environmental services manager, Nick Grove-White and TWMA marketing manager, Jayne Butler visited the school in December and were met by the school’s ‘Eco Committee’, which consists of teachers, support staff and pupils of all ages. The pupils enthusiastically explained to their visitors what they do to help their school reach its environmental targets and promote environmentally friendly practices to their fellow pupils.

“Engaging with school pupils is a great opportunity for TWMA to work closely with the community in which we operate, helping to equip them with the knowledge and the facilities they require to reduce the amount of waste generated in classrooms, the canteen and the play-ground,” said Nick.

“It was great to see a school such as Ashley Road putting an emphasis on environmental issues and ensuring that pupils are aware of how to be sustainable and environmentally friendly.”

The school was also recently granted its ‘Green Flag’ award by the Aberdeen City Council Eco Schools Programme for their Eco Committee’s efforts. This included an action plan which details ways in which the school continues to be Eco friendly involving every member of the school community in the school’s activities and campaigns. The Aberdeen City Eco Schools programme encourages schools to participate in on-going eco activities and initiatives such as recycling, litter, health and well-being, school travel, school grounds, water and energy.

TWMA secures second offshore processing contract in Norway

TWMA has been awarded its second offshore processing contract in Norway - A Statoil Framework agreement for the Operator’s Norwegian Continental Shelf operations.

The contract, which sees TWMA essentially be named among the preferred supplier list for offshore cuttings treatment using its proven TCC RotoMill® technology, will last for a duration of 3 years, with two 1 year extension options. Individual field or asset contract awards will be made by Statoil over the framework agreement duration and TWMA hopes to pick up the majority of the business available.

“This is the second offshore processing contract award for us in the NCS and is set to revolutionise traditional drilling waste handling methods,” says Leif Ove Svensen, Scandinavian regional manager at TWMA.

“With the ability to now process drilling waste at-source, we are equipped to help minimise the environmental impact of offshore operations by further treating drill cuttings and associated fluids offshore.

“We are delighted to have secured these contracts so early on in our NCS focus, and as a result of our on-going commitment to the region, we are looking at the

possibility of establishing a strategically positioned second base in Norway.”

TWMA was awarded the first Norwegian offshore processing contract with Total E&P Norge at the end of last year.

The seven-year contract will see TWMA incorporate solutions to manage Total’s complete drilling waste operations on the new-build Maersk XLE Jack-up drilling rig during the development of the Martin Linge field. Equipment mobilisation for the contract is due to take place in June 2014, with Offshore Processing to commence the following November.

TCC RotoMill® technology wins at SPE Offshore Achievement Awards

CUTTING EDGE : SPRING 2014

Staff from TWMA, collected the prestigious Environmentalist Award in the SPE Offshore Achievement Awards, held at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on Thursday March 20th, 2014.

The company surpassed tough competition from finalists Stork and Cape Environmental Service Offshore, to uphold its TCC RotoMill® as most outstanding environmental technology developed for and deployed in the offshore oil and gas or renewables industry.

TWMA’s submission was centred on the technology’s safe and efficient operations in the handling and process of drill cuttings and associated materials at source. This ‘at source’ capability not only near eliminates environmental risk, but can also present operational cost savings to the operator.

Rob O’Neil TWMA Sales Director commented, “We are absolutely elated to see our TCC RotoMill® technology win this evening, having worked continuously to develop a successful track record in ‘at source’ treatment, years ahead of the industry and other potential competitors.

“We have worked hard to ensure this is the next generation of thermal desorption technology. It focuses on solids control rather than waste management, and prevents offshore rigs producing drilling waste by using a process of thermal desorption to separate drill cuttings and associated material into its three constituent parts. The resulting oil and water are then ready for recycling or reuse and the rock solids exceed stringent environmental regulation requirements and can be dispersed back into the sea with no environmental impact.

“We have progressively changed the perceptions of thermal desorption and our TCC RotoMill® has proved itself as a sector-leading technology, which significantly reduces carbon footprint. We are proud to now be able to crown it as our ‘award-winning’ technology – something which it wholeheartedly deserves.”
