Wonders Assessments

1. Students will be given 2 “cold-read” passages for each Wonders Assessment unit/week. They will answer various FSA/ELA formatted questions.

2. Length of units will vary according to student needs and skills covered. Lessons for each unit/week may last from 5-7 school days.

3. Assessments will occur at the end of each unit, but not always on a Friday.

as a part of the FSA assessment.

• Scores for writing will be a part of the FSA/ELA test score

1. Writing opinion pieces supported with reasons and information from two or three texts.

2. Writing informative pieces to convey ideas and information from two or three texts.

Assessment in WritingFSA Writing

1. Students will have 2 – 3 passages to read with a prompt explaining the topic for their essay.

2. Fourth grade teaches the five paragraph essay structure.

3. Students will be given 2 hours (120 minutes) to read the prompt, read the passages, plan the essay, write the essay, and revise and edit the essay.

4. Text evidence is what is important. Elaboration is why it is important.

• A student may earn as much as 4 points for purpose, focus, and organization.

• A student may earn as much as 4 points for evidence and elaboration.

• A student may earn as much as 2 points for conventions of standard English.

• The highest score possible would be a score of 10.
