Western University was the featured speaker at a meeting of the Michigan Society of Endodontists held at the University of Michigan Dental School. His topics were "Factors of success and failure" and "Surgical intervention." At the annual meeting of the New York State Association of Endodon- tists held in November in Rochester, bylaws were amended and the pleth- ora of endodontists in the state was discussed. Serving two-year terms of office are Drs. Ernest V. Cinotti, president; Morton Brenner, presi- dent-elect; and Norman Roland, sec- retary-treasurer. The association's headquarters and business office is located at 8 Kent P1, Great Neck, NY 11020. Dr. John McSpadden, Johnson City, Tenn, was the featured speaker at a joint assembly of faculty and graduate students from the Universi- ty of Southern California, UCLA, and the Veterans Administration Hospital endodontic program at Long Beach, Calif. The meeting was held at UCLA; Dr. Jerry Taintor presided. Dr. McSpadden updated the re- search he has been doing on his mechanical warm gutta-percha tech- nique. Modifications in design of the instrument were discussed. At the conclusion of his presenta- tion, Dr. McSpadden discussed a new diagnostic instrument that uses a single tip and has the three-func- tion capacity of giving tests for hot, cold, and electric stimuli.
