    1. Preface

    Objective of the document

    The purpose of this User Manual is to help Administrators’ to access the functionalities provided in CSIR

    Application. This User Manual provides step-by-step guidelines to make your working with the

    application easier and more effective, helping you to complete the activity successfully.

    Audience level

    This document is destined for the Employees of CSIR.

    Before starting, it is important to understand the Typographic Conventions used in this User Manual.

    2. Registration/ Login

    Login is the gateway to access this application. Before you login, you will need to get registered to a

    course.

    Follow the steps below to get registered to a course:

    1. Enter the given URL in your web browser and click on GO button to view the login screen.

    This is the login screen. Here, you can Login, view Course Catalog, Downloads, Testimonials, News &

    Reviews, FAQ, Features, Documents, Customers and get registered to course.

    Course Catalog provides the courses in different catogaries. User can view the courses and get

    registered.

    Getting registered

    Courses will be displayed in the Course Catalog as displayed below.

    You can View the Course details and if you wish to view the course objective and the course outcome,

    click on the more details link corresponding to the course name. You can get registered by clicking on

    Register now link or if you wish to view the more details about the course, you can click on More details

    link to view the following Course Details pop up window.

    Note: You can click on the Register now link to get registered to the course.

    Course Details pop up window will be displayed. You can view the Course Overview, Course Learning

    Objectives and the Course Outcome.

    You can get registered to the selected course from Course Details pop up window by clicking on the

    Register now button or close the pop up window and click on the Register now link in the Login screen.

    Note: You can also click on the Course title in News & Reviews pane to get registered to the course.

    Follow the steps below to get registered:

    1. Click on Register now link corresponding to the course name you wish to register.

    Register Now pop up window will be displayed.

    2. Enter Login ID and Password in the respective text box provided.

    3. Click on Login button to get registered and login to the application.

    After successful registration/ login ‘Your request for registration has been sent to the manager for

    approval’ message will be displayed in the Dashboard.

    3. Dashboard

    How you are here?

    Login >Dashboard

    After successful login you will arrive at your Dashboard. From here you can access all the main areas.

    Dashboard is also a useful place to return to if you happen to get lost when familiarizing yourself.

    Brief description of Homepage:

    The logged-in user’s name will be displayed on the top right corner of the screen. You can view two

    panes here. On each screen you will see the following navigation menu on the left pane.

    You can click on navigation menu at any time to change to another area.

    Intelligence panel in the Homepage

    There are two views provided in the Homepage such as Business View and Classic View. Click on the

    Classic View tab in the Dashboard to view the following screen.

    Intelligence panel will provide personalized information on Course request status and Course

    announcements.

    Listed below are the menus that will be displayed in the intelligence panel:

    � Task to do (Remainders)

    � Alerts (Course End date)

    � Request status (Course request status, whether approved or pending for approval)

    � Announcements (New Course)

    � Notifications (Course details)

    � Confirmation (Course Confirmation)

    4. My Course

    How you are here?

    Dashboard> My Course

    My Course menu will be displayed in the Dashboard as shown below. Click on My Course to view the

    following screen.

    My Course screen provides tabs to view Courses in Progress and Completed Courses. By default, Courses

    in Progress will be selected.

    Courses in Progress

    Course details such as Course Title, Course duration and a brief description will be available. Click on

    More Details link to view the Course Description, Learning Objective and Outcome. Mouse-hover the

    course progress bar to view the completed status. You can click on the Supplementary Resources link to

    view the added resources that provide additional course related information. Bookmark link will take

    you to the Bookmarks that you have done during course browsing. To participate in a Discussion with

    the Subject Matter Experts, you can click on Discussions Link. To view FAQ’s regarding the course, click

    on FAQ link.

    Play Course

    How you are here?

    Dashboard> My Course> Play Course

    Follow the Steps below to view the Course:

    1. Click on Play Course button to view the Course player.

    2. Click on Play Course button to view the Course player.

    Course player will be displayed. Menu will be hidden by default.

    3. Click on the Menu to view the course content structure.

    You can view the course content structure. The Topic status will be marked as displayed in the menu.

    4. To close the content structure, click on Menu once again.

    5. Click on the left arrow to view the previous course and right arrow to view the next

    course.

    6. After you complete, click on the Close icon to return to Course Dashboard.

    How to take test?

    How you are here?

    Dashboard> My Course> Take Test

    Follow the steps below to take test:

    1. Click on Classic View in the Dashboard to view the following screen.

    Scheduled test(s) will be displayed in this pane. Test details such as Test Name, Start Date, Start Time,

    End Date and End Time will be provided.

    2. Click on Take Test link corresponding to the test name you wish to take the test.

    Test player will be displayed. Instructions (if any) will be displayed on the left pane and the list of short

    cut keys will be displayed on the right. Short cut keys helps you navigate through the test player faster,

    thus saving the time.

    3. To start the test, click on Start.

    During the test you can view Test Controls across the screen. Each of the Test Controls and their

    functions are described below:

    Question

    Counter

    The Question Counter tracks how many questions you have attempted and not

    attempted.

    Timer The Timer appears when the first question appears on the screen. It displays the remaining

    time to complete the test.

    Shortcut Keys Click on Shortcut Keys link to view list of keyboard shortcut keys that will help you to

    navigate faster.

    Next button When you complete a question, click the Next button to move to the next question.

    Back button Click Back button to view the previous question.

    Submit Test When you complete the test, click Submit Test button to submit the test for evaluation.

    Attempted/

    Not attempted

    Attempted questions will be highlighted in ‘Yellow’ colour and questions that are Not

    attempted will be displayed in ‘White’ colour.

    4. When you complete a question, click the Next button or question number in the Question

    counter to move to the next question.

    Few points that you should note before submitting test:

    •••• If you Submit Test without answering all the questions, you will be displayed with a confirmation message

    ‘All questions are not answered. Do you want to submit the test?’

    •••• Click Yes to submit the test for evaluation / No to continue the test if you have time left to complete the test.

    Note: If all the questions are answered, the following message will be displayed.

    5. Click on Yes to Submit the test for evaluation.

    6. The test responses will be instantly evaluated and the Test Summary will be displayed as shown

    below.

    Test Summary will include:

    � Number of questions in the test

    � Number of question attempted

    � Number of question Corrected

    � Net Score

    � Percentage

    Discussions

    How you are here?

    Dashboard> My Course>Discussions

    Course/ test related queries can be discussed with Subject Matter Experts. This section allows you to

    participate in Discussion. Discussions link will be displayed in Course in Progress/ Completed Courses

    screen.

    Follow the steps below to view Discussions screen:

    1. Click on Discuss in Course in Progress/ Completed Courses to view the following screen.

    You can view your Post(s)/ All Post(s) here. Discussions that you have posted will be displayed as My

    Post. My posts will be selected by default. You can click on the drop down list to view My Posts and All

    Posts. Discussion title will be displayed in top. You can view the title, description, last response details

    and number of replies received. This screen also allows you to create New Post.

    Discussions screen provides link to create New Post.

    Follow the steps below to create New Post:

    1. Click on New Post to view the following screen.

    2. Type a Title for the post in the text box provided.

    3. Enter brief Description in the text area.

    4. Click Browse button to choose files if you wish to attach any documents/images.

    5. Click on Post to send the discussion.

    Completed Courses

    How you are here?

    Dashboard> My Course> Completed Courses

    The completed courses will be displayed in the Homepage in Completed Courses Pane.

    Course details such as Course title and the Course completion status will be displayed. This screen also

    allows you to view:

    � Bookmark (Bookmarks that are marked during course browsing. Click to view the Bookmarks)

    � Supplementary Resources (Course related Supplementary Resources. Click to view the

    Supplementary Resources)

    � Course Feedback (After course completion, you can complete a formatted feedback regarding

    the course and Submit to the Administrator. Click to send Feedback)

    � Course Certificate (A Course Complete Certificate will be awarded after you complete the course.

    � Discussions (Click to Discuss queries/ information/ with Subject Matter Experts/ peers)

    Dashboard> My Course> Course Certificate

    Click on View Certificate link in Completed Courses screen to view the Certificate after you complete the

    course.

    Course Feedback

    How you are here?

    Dashboard> My Course> Course Feedback

    Click on Feedback in Completed Courses screen to provide Feedback on the Course taken.

    Follow the steps below to provide Course Feedback:

    1. On the left pane you ca view Quantitative Evaluation and Qualitative Evaluation.

    Note: You can use the option buttons to answer Quantitative Evaluation feedback. Enter text in the text

    area provided for Quantitative/ Qualitative Evaluation feedback.

    2. Enter your feedback and use the scroll bar to view Submit button.

    3. After you complete answering the Feedback, click on Submit button to submit your feedback.

    5. My Training

    My Training functionality allows you to view your Completed Events, Current Events and Upcoming

    Events. This helps you to organize your calendar and you can also view the upcoming events, which

    helps you to know about the event details.

    My Training Menu will be displayed in the Dashboard as shown below.

    Follow the steps below to view your calendar:

    1. Click on My Training in the Dashboard to view the following screen.

    You can view icons/tabs across the calendar. The table below will brief you about the icons/ tabs:

    Month will be selected by default. Click on the left and the right arrow to view events of the previous/

    next month respectively. You can click on the event title to view the Program/ Activity details.

    6. Knowledge Library

    How you are here?

    Dashboard> Knowledge Library

    This functionality allows you to select a course to view the reports of Chapters/ Topics browsed, Average

    time spent and the Course completion status.

    Click on Knowledge Library in Homepage to view the following screen.

    Knowledge Resource Management is the centralized digital library system of CSIR and Labs. The

    Knowledge resources uploaded by the subject matter experts will be displayed here.

    You can click on the Policies, Guidelines and Reference Materials to view the resources uploaded by the

    Subject matter experts, which are relevant to the sectors and sub sectors.

    Contribute Knowledge Resource

    This section will allow you to contribute knowledge resource.

    Follow the steps below to contribute knowledge resource:

    1. Click on Knowledge Library in the menu to view the following screen.

    2. Click on Contribute Knowledge Resource.

    3. The Contributor name will be displayed by default.

    4. Type Resource Name in the text box provided.

    5. Enter brief Description about the document in the text area.

    6. Click Browse to select document you wish to contribute.

    7. Click on I Agree button to enable Upload button.

    The document will be uploaded and a success message ‘Contributors Document(s) Successfully

    Uploaded’ will be displayed.

    Manage Relevant links

    Follow the steps below to add relevant link:

    1. Click on knowledge Library in the menu to view the following screen.

    2. Click on Manage Relevant link in Related Links pane.

    Links uploaded earlier will be displayed here.

    3. Click on Add New Link.

    4. Enter URL in the text box provided.

    5. Type a brief Description about the link in the text area.

    6. Click on Submit.

    The link will be uploaded and a success message ‘Relevant link added successfully’ will be displayed.

    Edit link

    Manage Relevant link screen allows you to edit link.

    Follow the steps below to edit link:

    1. Click on Edit corresponding to the link name you wish to edit.

    2. Make required changes and click on Submit to save the changes.

    Delete relevant link

    Relevant links that are not required can be deleted.

    Manage Relevant link screen allows you to delete link.

    Follow the steps below to delete link:

    1. Click on Delete corresponding to the link name you wish to delete.

    A confirmation message ‘Are you sure you want to delete this relevant link’ will be displayed.

    2. Click on OK to delete the link.

    7. Resource Persons Directory

    How you are here?

    Dashboard> Resource Persons Directory

    This functionality allows you to search a person using search criteria such as Name, Description and

    Keywords. You can view the person’s name and personal details such as address, phone number and e-

    mail id.

    Resource Persons Directory menu will be displayed in the Dashboard.

    Follow the steps below to search person(s):

    1. Click on Resource Persons Directory to view the following screen.

    2. Click the drop down list to select Search criteria. You can also enter text in Search Text box.

    Note: You can enter the person’s name/designation to search.

    3. If the entered details are incorrect, click on Reset and Select/ type once again.

    4. After you complete, click on Submit to view the search result.

    Note: Search result will be displayed based on the selected search criteria

    5. Click on the E-mail Id to write mails to the concerned person.

    8. My Portfolio

    How you are here?

    Dashboard> My Portfolio

    This section allows you to view your portfolio.

    My Portfolio menu will be displayed in the Dashboard.

    Follow the steps below to view your portfolio:

    1. Click on My Portfolio to view the following screen.

    This screen will display your personal details such as Name, Designation, Address, Experience and your

    Manager. Course details such as In Progress, Pending Request(s) and Completed status will also be

    displayed.

    2. Click on the number link corresponding to the Course Status you wish to view.

    9. Communication

    How you are here?

    Dashboard> Communication

    This functionality allows you to communicate with the employees. Course related information, feedback

    and tests can be communicated through messages.

    Communication menu will be displayed in the Dashboard.

    Messages

    View Mail

    Follow the steps below to view mail:

    1. Click on Communication in the Dashboard to view Messages.

    2. Click on Messages to view the following screen.

    Inbox will be selected by default. You can view the name of the person sent the mail, Subject, Type and

    date.

    3. Click on the Subject link to view the message.

    You can view the sent person’s name, subject and the description.

    Reply

    Message screen allows you to post reply to the message(s) received.

    Follow the steps below to reply:

    1. Click on Reply corresponding to the message you wish to send a reply. The following screen will

    be displayed.

    2. Click the drop down list to select the Message Type.

    3. Click on the E-mail check box if you wish your reply to be as E-mail.

    Note: If the Email check box is not selected, then the message will be sent to the employee’s login id. The message

    will be displayed in the Dashboard. If the check box is selected, then the message will be sent to employee’s login

    id and also to e-mail id, so that, the message will be displayed in the Dashboard and also in the messages inbox.

    4. The addressee and the subject will be displayed by default in the respective text box as you are

    replying to the message sent earlier to you.

    5. Enter the message (reply) in the text editor.

    6. After you complete, click on Send button.

    The reply will be sent and a success message ‘Message posted successfully’ will be displayed.

    Compose message

    The message that you compose can be C-mail, Alert, Task to do, Notification and E-mails. Message

    screen allows you to compose message. The messages will be displayed in employee’s dashboard.

    Follow the steps below to compose message:

    1. Click on Compose in Message screen.

    2. Click the drop down list to select the Message Type.

    3. Click on the E-mail check box if you wish your reply to be as E-mail.

    Note: If the Email check box is not selected, then the message will be sent to the employee’s login id. The message

    will be displayed in the Dashboard. If the check box is selected, then the message will be sent to employee’s login

    id and also to e-mail id, so that, the message will be displayed in the Dashboard and also in the messages inbox.

    4. Click on the user icon to select user(s).

    Select user pop up window will be displayed.

    Note: Click on the drop down list to select the Search criteria to search employee(s). You can click on the ‘Plus’

    icon to add more fields.

    5. Click on the check box corresponding to the Employee name to select.

    6. After selecting the user(s), click on Add button.

    A success message ‘User(s) added successfully’ will be displayed.

    7. Click on close icon to return to Compose screen.

    8. Type Message in the text editor.

    9. After you complete, click on Send button.

    The message will be sent to the selected users and a success message ‘Message posted successfully’ will

    be displayed.

    Delete Message

    Messages that are not required can be deleted in order to organize. Message screen allows you to

    delete message.

    Follow the steps below to delete message:

    1. Click on Delete link corresponding to the message you wish to delete.

    2. A confirmation message ‘Sure, Do you want to delete the message’ will be displayed.

    3. Click on OK button to delete the selected message.

    10. My Reports

    How you are here?

    Dashboard> My Reports

    This section will brief you about your performance in Test and Course.

    This section will brief you about your performance in Assessment(s).

    My Reports menu will be in the Dashboard as displayed below.

    Follow the steps below to view Assessment Report.

    1. Click on My Reports to view Test Report/ Course Report sub menus.

    2. Click on Test Report.

    By default Course Tests will be selected.

    3. To view Course Tests report, click the drop down list to Select a Course.

    Graphical depiction of the course and obtained percentage will be displayed. The table below will

    display Test Name, Maximum Score, Score Obtained, Percentage and Status.

    4. To view Scheduled Tests, click on Scheduled Tests tab.

    Graphical representation of the Course and the Assessment Score in terms of percentage will be

    displayed. The table will display test details such as Test Name, Maximum Score, Score Obtained,

    Percentage and Status.

    Course Report

    This section will brief you about your performance in Course(s).

    My Reports menu will be in the Dashboard as displayed below.

    Follow the steps below to view Course Report.

    1. Click on My Reports to view Test Report/ Course Report sub menus.

    2. Click on Course Report.

    Course Report will include Pie-Graph representation Course progress and the Course details. The Pie-

    graph will display the Course Progress status such as Completed, In Progress and Not Started in terms of

    percentage. This will be marked with legends. The table below will brief Course details such as Chapter
