It might be some piece of wisdom the teacher imparts, or some gem from another student. It might also be what fabric combinations others used that you never thought of. It might also be that you don’t like a particular type of technique, and that is a valuable lesson to have learned. And that is what makes going to classes worthwhile! Scholarship drawings are coming up soon. May you be lucky and have your name drawn. This reminds me when my name was called a couple of years ago. When you are an experienced quilter and you sign up for the class, you don't know what you will learn, but you will come home with something you learned. Dear Ms. Sew Beautiful,

What is the best way to keep your sewing machine's foot pedal from sliding away? It’s driving me crazy!!

Signed, Liz Carota

Dear Liz,

Runaway foot pedals can be a real nuisance, especially if you are barefoot and have pins on the floor! But the up side is that there are a few things you can do to keep that foot pedal from slipping away. I use self stick Velcro, placing a piece under the foot pedal and the other piece on the floor. Others use mouse pads or rubber shelving sheets under the foot pedal. There are now sewing machines whereby one can use a start button instead of a foot pedal.

We have a new member in our Guild who will be able to answer any quilting or Guild questions. Her name is Ms. Sew Beautiful, and if she cannot answer your questions, she will consult an expert on the subject to find the right answer. One or two questions will be published in our monthly newsletter as well as other suggestions and/or answers to any published questions. Ms. Sew Beautiful does not have a degree in psychiatry, so please refrain from asking any non-related quilting or Guild questions. Please send your questions for Ms. Sew Beautiful to [email protected]. (The editor reserves the right to exercise judgment when selecting questions.)

Dear Ms. Sew Beautiful

Dear Ms. Sew Beautiful,

How often can we win scholarships awarded by the guild?

Signed, Teri Harman

Dear Teri,

The Terry Kendrick scholarship can only be awarded one time. A $75 scholarship can be awarded more than once, but one must wait two years before applying again. The guild supports the educational growth and the development of skills needed for our members to enjoy the art of quilting. It is required of those who do receive scholarships to share what they have learned in the classes supported by the scholarships. Recipients can do this by presenting a short subject at the business meetings. If you are interested in applying for one of these scholarships or require further assistance, please contact our Education Chair, Joyce Compton.

I just love getting your letters! It keeps me from having to cook! So keep sending them in!

Happy Quilting and remember "Every end has a beginning". You need to start a quilt before you can

finish it!
