Who would’ve thought you could fit so much talent in one

school, we’re oozing with talent!

Well done Crookwell Public School staff of 2019, your

dedication, passion and care sets you apart!

Christmas Craft with Sheridan On Tuesday, Sheridan (Faith’s mum) joined the Kindergarten classroom to make some Christmas craft with all students. There were 4 different craft projects happening around the room at the same time! Making paper chains from old reading books, creating a design with cut up paper towel rolls to hang on the Christmas tree, a Christmas card and another snow flake decoration made from recycled plastic bottles.

Sheridan thought of all these creative ideas, organised the materials and presented them to the students. Kindergarten want to say a huge thankyou to Sheridan for taking the time to help make Christmas a very merry one.

Riley Hill and Poppy Snape paste some sequins on their

Christmas cards.

The very long paper chain is now up in the Kindergarten

classroom.

Sam Saville and Jackson Winsor paint their tree decorations.

Getting Crafty In 1/2 Kangaroo Students in 1/2 Kangaroo were very excited as the calendar rolled over to December this week. It’s the time of the year where we spend time in our classrooms listening to Christmas carols, writing letters to Santa and begin making lots of beautiful Christmas artworks. We are looking forward to many fun activities and events over the coming weeks.

Alfie Haynes, Indi Fahey & Jordan Tate are very proud of the

gorgeous Christmas trees they painted.

Term 4 Library Update Over the coming weeks, it would be much appreciated if students could return any borrowed library books to school to allow a complete stocktake of library resources to successfully occur before the end of term.

Thank you Miss Stephenson

Presentation Evening 2019 Thank you to everyone who attended Crookwell Public School’s Presentation Evening last Friday. It was a wonderful evening full of celebration for our school’s students and their families.

I would like to congratulate our students on the way they conducted themselves during Presentation Evening. They were fabulous! The whole staff felt very proud and I am sure most parents and friends in attendance felt equally proud.

The whole school opening production was energetic and entertaining and the infants item was original and very cute. In addition, a selection of Year 6 students danced, sung and played instruments in their performance, demonstrating some of the talent that lies within the school. Both PowerPoint presentations were very engaging as they took us on an emotional walk down memory lane.

On behalf of the school community I thank and congratulate Annie Knight, Lillian Skelly, Luke Palmer and Samuel McGregor the 2019 school prefects, on the way they conducted the night’s proceedings and congratulate Charlie Colley, Ellie Whittington, Jack Speer and Sophie Ward on their election to the position of prefect in 2020. Sporting Blue For Sam Sam McGregor has received a very prestigious, and highly sought after, Sporting Blue by the South Coast School Sports Association. This award goes to sportspeople who have excelled in their chosen sport and have achieved great success throughout the year.

Sam captained the South Coast boys hockey team earlier in the year before gaining a place in the NSW State team. In August, he travelled to Bendigo to compete in the National Hockey Titles. The NSW team played against WA, QLD, ACT, SA, VIC and TAS during the week long competition. In the six games played, NSW won 4, drew 1 and lost 1 to finish on top of the table with 15 points. They drew their final against WA at 1 all, resulting in NSW and WA sharing the title as joint winners.

Congratulations Sam on this amazing achievement and good luck for your future endeavours in hockey, you are a great ambassador for our school and the wider Crookwell community.

Sam just may be the next Crookwell Public School student to

represent his country in hockey after past student, Kellie White, did this by winning a Commonwealth gold medal in

2014.

2020 Classes and Teachers

I am very pleased with the educational and social advantages that our class grouping will allow again next year. This arrangement that is not based on enrolment numbers, although made possible by enrolment numbers, will allow the academic and social needs of ALL students to

be best met. A great deal of time and effort, starting right back in Term 2, by your child’s teachers, the people who know your child best at school, has been spent considering assessment data and peer relationships to form the most effective classes possible. They are experienced, educationally trained and dedicated professionals who want the very best educational ‘package’ for your child at Crookwell Public School.

I want you as parents to embrace and fully support this plan however I do understand that some of you will have questions and concerns that you would like addressed. I encourage you to phone me on 48 321 213 to discuss the matter or make an appointment to arrange a meeting time if you have any questions or concerns.

Early in Term 1 2020 a ‘Meet the Teacher’ afternoon will be conducted. I hope that you will be able to attend these meetings to understand what is happening in classrooms and learn the steps you can take at home to best support your child’s academic and social development.

Early Stage 1

The Year 5/6 have been successful this year to allow for smaller class sizes, peer tutoring, academic needs to be met and fostering friendships across different year levels.

This format will be revised in 2020. Students will still have a Yr 5/6 base class for Stage 3 but there will be extra time for Year 5 and Year 6 to be together as a year group based on the feedback we received this year. Year 6 will still hold all leadership roles, have special privilege of the Year 6 quad and attend camp as a Year 6 class. Additional Staff

Mr Atfield will continue as relieving assistant principal as well as fill the role as our literacy and numeracy coordinator and our Quality Teaching, Successful Students (QTSS) facilitator. His experience and knowledge will be invaluable in these areas and will assist staff and students to improve learning outcomes. The school’s Learning Assistance Support Teacher (LAST) will be working with students across the school requiring additional academic assistance.

Mrs Bell will continue on maternity leave until Term 3 and Miss Bell will be on leave until the start of Term 3. Mrs Atfield will be replacing Miss Bell. Mr Harrop will no longer be a part of the staff. On behalf of the Crookwell Public School community I would like to thank Mr Harrop for his contribution to Crookwell Public School’s students and wish him well in the future.

School Learning Support Officers, Mrs Kate Gay, Miss Jayde Della, Mrs Karen Lynam, Mrs Nicole Price and Mrs Lyn Green will continue to provide additional assistance and support to students in classrooms across the school.

Mrs Billie Willis will work in the office with Mrs Megan Johnston.
