    Cremation: This practice consists ofreduction of the body into ash. For that

    purpose the ballot box is introduced into agas oven.

    The oven temperature reaches 800 degrees,separating the ashes of the urn from theashes of the body. Once separated andcooled, the ashes are deposited in a pot andgiven to family.

    Justification of the choice of service

    The idea ofestablishing a crematorium in the districtof Castelo Branco comes for the opportunity anddemand for this new alternative method in comparisonwith the traditional practices of burial of corpses

    In Portugal, the average number of deaths per year is8330,750 out of them are cremated, since this practice isconsidered to be more ecological and cheaper.

    We found that in more developed countries the rate ofcremation is about 90%. Taking this into consideration, weestimate that Portugal could achieve these values in thefuture, so we decided to pre-empt our future competitors

    almost everywhere in the world andpeople increasingly prefer this practiceover the traditional burial practices.

    2 Currently the rate of cremation in Lisbonand in Oporto is around 70%. At this time

    there are already 14 crematories inPortugal
