The Relationship Between Pets and Humans There has been evidence found in various places throughout the world that around 12,000 years ago, humans first raised wolves as pets. The wolf is the largest wild animal of the Canidae family and it is an ancestor of the dog. Humans in ancient times used them in various ways – as a guardian, a hunter and a companion. Since the relationship was positive, we started to breed canines by selecting species and appearances. Eventually wolves mutated to dogs and they are differentiated by habits and physical characteristics. Dogs are well known for their sense of smell so human used them to track animals’ corpses. Meanwhile, dogs could eat human’s left over food. We can see that they helped each other in their lives in different ways and the long relationship became forged. Later on, human started to invent new weapons and find convenient ways to make their hunting more efficient. Humans began to permanently settle their homes, while dogs began to live around us. The relationship became closer once humans began to raise more dogs and they learned to obey and to live together with human. Nowadays, dogs are considered human’s best friend and they serve humans in many ways. They play with children, help blind people cross the street and serve as many people’s lifetime companions. So when their beloved dogs died, they might not want to leave their bodies with a veterinarian. In the past, when pets died, most of the owners often buried them around their house. But nowadays, pet lovers who live in the city face the problem of finding space to bury their pets. They also might want to make merit to send their dogs to their next better lives in Buddhism way, so in response to this, there are two new alternative ways to deal with the bodies of dead pets. Khun Ploysai Passornsiri understands that the death of the dogs bring grief and loss to their owners. This was the reason why she wanted to open up a pet crematorium business set up at at Wat-Thad-Tong, Ekamai in Bangkok. “The reason I chose Wat-Thad-Tong because most people know this place and it locates in the center of the town where transportations can easily access,” said Khun Ploysai. This business is for those owners who really love their dogs and want to ritualize them. It’s a complete ceremony for pets and almost the same as human funeral, which includes the praying process. After the burning process, you are able to keep your pet’s ashes and float them in the river. The price is considered from the weight and size of the animal started from 2000 baht for pets that weigh less than five kilograms and the price is up to 4500 baht for pets that weigh more than 45 kilograms. Most of the animals about 93 percent that is brought to this service is a dog, followed by a cat which is six percent and lastly one percent is a mouse.

The Relationship Between Pets and Humans

There has been evidence found in various places throughout the world that around 12,000 years ago, humans first raised wolves as pets.

But nowadays, pet lovers who live in the city face

the problem of finding space to bury their pets. They also might want to make merit to send their dogs to their next better lives in Buddhism way, so in response to this, there are two new alternative ways to deal with the bodies of dead pets.

Khun Ploysai Passornsiri understands that the death of the dogs bring grief and loss to their owners. This was the reason why she wanted

to open up a pet crematorium business set up at at Wat-Thad-Tong, Ekamai in Bangkok.

The price is considered from the weight and size of the animal started from 2000 baht for pets that weigh less than five kilograms and the

price is up to 4500 baht for pets that weigh more than 45 kilograms. Most of the animals about 93 percent that is brought to this service is a dog, followed by a cat which is six percent and lastly one percent is a mouse.

Khun Ploysai invested about one million baht in the business. In the first month she ran the business, she lost the profit about a thousand

baht. But she gained it back a month later. Normally, there will be some pollution after the crematorium. According to ISO 14000, this is new technology designed and produced by

an engineer experienced in crematory productions. It is a more eco-friendly crematorium because the coffin is made of eco paper so the process is without odor or smoke.

There is another way of managing a pet’s death, especially those pet lovers who want their pets to be with them forever in a form of

model. This business is to solidify pet into any postures the owner would want. This is not only for pets but every animal can be preserved as long as they are not breathing.

Khun Laksee Sermsuk, the owner of this interesting business came up with “Fixzer Life Business” He is the only one in Bangkok and one of ten people in Thailand who does this kind of work. “I started to solidify a fish until now I can solidify every kind of animal,” said Khun Laksee. He has preserved many animals such as birds, fish, crocodiles, chickens, turtles and more. He said that one of the main reasons people preserve their animals is because they want to keep them as souvenir and some said that their animals are exotic and hardly seen in Thailand so they want to preserve them  which can last longer than 20 years depending on how well they are kept. This business has five branches located at Bang Khen, Kasetsart University, Zeer Rangsit, Lamlukka and Saimai.

The price rate for a small dog starts from 4500 to 5500 baht and for a large dog starts from 15000 to 22000 baht. Rate price for cat starts from 4200 to 5500 baht and for fish starts from 2500 to 7500 baht. But all in all, the price rate is mainly considered from the difficulty of the solidification.

It’s important to point out that even if you don’t want a ceremony when your pets die is that you should not leave them in the black bag on the street in the public area or throw them in the trash because the dead bodies may be rotten and eventually spread all kinds of viruses, germs as well as a rotten smell.
