Where do we Start?
Defining Sustainability…most frequently cited comes from the World Council on
Economic Development, which advocates operating in ways that “meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability
of future generations to meet their own needs” (Brundtland, 1987).
Sustainability extends beyond the boundaries of the organization.

What have we learned?
• Start at the beginning• Define interests vs. Issues• Focus must be supportive of outcomes and
interests of all related/peripheral parties
• KPI's should be weaved into strategic planning not project management and management reporting

Sustainability is a Journey, Not a Destination
“Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility can be viewed as the manner, as well as the environment and circumstance in which, organizations
create shared value in their broader organizational communities through direct community engagement, community economic development, stakeholder collaboration, joint policy and governance development, environmental improvement and resilience practices and programs.”
