Before you begin using Photo Story 3 you will need to create a folder and title it Book Trailer. Store all of your pictures, music, and JPEG slides in this folder. Creating Book Trailers Using Photo Story 3 Why Photo Story 3? It is a free program anyone can download.

Before you begin using Photo Story 3 you will need to create a folder and title it

Book Trailer. Store all of your pictures, music, and JPEG slides in this folder.

You will also need to create your citation page, creator page, blank page, and any

other text as JPEG and store in this folder.

• Open Photo Story 3 and select Begin a new

story

• Click Next at the bottom of the window

• Click Import Pictures

• Follow the prompts to located and upload the

pictures and any other JPEG slides you saved

on your computer in your Book Trailer folder.

• The imported photos will be viewable in a

filmstrip along the bottom of the program

window.

• Click and drag the pictures to arrange pictures in order.

• Each picture can be edited using the tools under

the picture. Hover over icon to see what it does.

• When you have made the changes you wish to that

picture, click the arrow on the bottom right corner

of the edit area to go to the next picture for editing.

• Save your project before moving to the next step by clicking Save Project. (Save to

student server)

• When you have edited each image and are ready

for the next step in the process, click the Next

button. You can select Back if you wish to go

back and change something in a previous step.

After you click the next button you are ready to begin

adding text to the image.

• A text box will be located on the right side of

the image

• Buttons above the text box allow for editing

the font on each slide.

• More Effect Options can be accessed through

the drop-down menu underneath the image

• After you have added the text for each slide, select Next to move to the next step. You

can select Back if you wish to go back and change something in a previous step.

• Click Save Project (Save after each step)

The next step is adding narration and motion to each slide

• To record narration click on the Red button and click the

Square button to stop narration (You may skip this step if

you are not recording voice)

To add slide animation click on Customize Motion button

• Select the Motion and Duration tab

• Set the start and end position for the image by

clicking and dragging the size of the image. The

best way to explain this is to say that the anything

inside the box is what moves. Whatever the box is

located is where the end slide stops.

• Customize the duration of the slide

• Save between each slide

• Select the Transitions tab

• Customize the transitions between each slide.

• Customize the length of transitions

• Click on the first image slide in the timeline and

select the Preview button to watch the video in its

current state

• Continue to click Save Project

• Click the Next button when you are ready to move to the next step. You can always click

Back if you wish to back and change something from a previous step.

The next step is to add music.

• Select Music to add the audio file. Navigate to the

location of your music file on your computer.

(should be in your student server in the book trailer

folder)

• Or add electronic music by selecting Create Music

and following the prompts.

• Once you have added or created your music, click

Preview to see the video

• When you are happy with the music selection and volume, choose Save Project

• Click Next button to move to the next step. You can select Back if you need to make

changes to something from previous step.

The final screen is for saving your Photo Story

• You need to save this project in two ways: as a project and as a movie

1. Select Save Project . . . You should have been saving

after each step. By saving the project this way, Photo

Story will allow you to access and make changes. Once

the project is saved as a movie, no more changes can be

made. Having the video saved in the project format allows

you to make changes and save the video again.

2. You will need to select how you want the movie saved.

Select the first option Save your story for playback on

your computer. This will save the video as a Window

Media Video(WMV) file.

• Save to your h: drive in your Book Trailer file and click Next

• The program will render and save your Photo Story. The

screen will show that your story was saved successfully and

allow you to view the finished product.
