This is meant as a guide for creating the daily foodservice manifest, intended for users who have working knowledge of Sage 50/Peachtree and basic computer fluency.

Step One: Enter the log-in information to get to your dashboard. This task will start with the Lists function of the dashboard, in the green box above.

Step Two:

Using the cursor, select the Lists tab on the dashboard. Toggle the cursor over the Customers & Sales option (you will not have to left click the mouse, as the next window will open automatically). Move the cursor to the next window which opens without letting the cursor touch any of the other options in the Lists category, as that will open a series of different windows (for example, if the cursor toggles over the Vendors & Purchases option, then the computer will leave the Customers & Sales subset for that one). Once the cursor is in the Customers & Sales subset, select Sales Orders. Another window will open with options to view sales orders for the only the current day, a range of days, or even the year.

Step Three: You should see the following page populate the screen. There is a sorting option for date ranges underneath the task bar (highlighted in this guide by the Green Box).

Step Four: From the Date Range option, use the cursor to select Today (highlighted in blue).

Note: you may use this option for a variety of purposes beyond the daily manifest; including narrowing a selection of data to only certain months or years or ranges of each. Options such as selecting data sets for other time periods, such as certain weeks, may require using the custom Edit Date (highlighted and underscored in darker blue) function to right of the current tab. For more information on this function, please refer to Appendix C.

Step Five: The next screen contains all the data entered for sales orders created on the current day. At this point, there is no need to check for data validation or filter further – that will be much easier after exporting data to Excel.

The far left option is the Send To (highlighted in green) drop- down menu. The first option in the menu is Excel (highlighted in blue). Click this option with the cursor to extract the data to MS Excel.

Step Six : When you select this option, a dialogue box will appear in the center of the screen. The default option is to ‘create a new book within Excel.’ Because you will have to sort and format some data, you will want to select this option. Use the cursor to select OK.

Step Seven: When Sage 50 exports data, it will carry many of the columns we do not need for this task, such as the date, customer PO, Verification, and sales order amount. The only information needed for the manifest are the first two columns on the right. Highlight and delete the rest (everything within the green box) to make the workbook easier to filter further.

Step Eight: To make the relevant columns more feasible to work with, condense the column width to an appropriate size by double clicking the margin of the column with the cursor. Then, highlight all cells of data (the column/rows will appear orange, the cells blue), and format them so that the content is in the center of the cell and all cells have outlines (the red boxes highlight where these formatting options are on the ribbon).
