Saint Gregory School Corner

Our Saint Gregory Wolves Basketball teams had a great season! Congratulations to all our teams! Boys’ Varsity – are North B Section Champions – and advanced to the quarter finals of the Diocesan Playoffs.

Girls’ Varsity (playing with Blessed Francis X. Seelos Academy) – advanced to Round 2 of the North Class A Playoffs.

Boys’ JV – are North B Section Champions — and advanced to the quarter finals of the Diocesan Playoffs.

Girls’ JV – achieved a Second Place finish in the Class B Diocesan Championship Finals. Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science

We’d also like to congratulate our students who participated in the PJAS Tournament at Slippery Rock University. Our First Place Award winners were: Redmond Jennison (Grade 7), Isaac Homison (Grade 7), Matthew Dudash (Grade 7) and Cora Fiedler (Grade 8). They will all move on to the PJAS State Competition at Penn State University. Also, our students Ben Sutton (Grade 8) and Sophia Signoriello (Grade 8) both received Second Place Awards. The 21st Annual St. Gregory PTG Auction and Casino Night is on Saturday, April 18, at 6:00 pm. This fun evening will be held at St. Gregory School’s Bergman Event Center and proceeds will benefit the school. This year’s theme is Night at the Races and Auction. Grab your derby hats, and join us for a great evening of food, wine, beer, and fun! The activities for the evening include televised horse races, themed auction baskets, a live auction of designer purses, Mud Pie Pottery designed by the students, and more! Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. A limited number of reserved seats are available for an additional $10 per ticket. The St. Gregory Spring Bible Study will meet Thursday, March 26, in the School Library at 7:00 pm. The Guys and Gals Gathering of all Adults 55+ will be Monday, March 30, 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, at Ritzert Hall in Evans City. Join them for food, games and fun! All adults 55+ singles, married, or widowed are welcome! The Southwest Butler Food Cupboard collection this month will be the weekend of March 28 & 29. Needed items are soup, canned vegetables, Sloppy Joe mix, pasta, oatmeal, all types of canned beans, salad dressing, tortillas, and toiletries. Thank you for your support! Baptism Prep Classes — Baptism classes at Holy Redeemer Parish are held four times per year at 7:00 pm in the Catholic Center. The next class is April 1. Call 724.758.4411, ext.110. Any parents who have not taken this preparation class in the last three years are required to participate in this program before your child is baptized. The Saint Gregory Spring Bible Study will meet tomorrow March 16, at the Passavant Health Center in the Music Room at 10:00 am. Our Parish Renewal — Please join us for our final night of Parish Renewal on Monday, March 16, at 7:00 pm in Saint Ferdinand Church, Cranberry Township. We’ll have a prayerful evening of praise and worship with the Saint Ferdinand Praise Band and a talk by Deacon Don Pepe. This service of music, prayer, and faith-filled stories of finding light in the darkness will inspire us as we continue our journey from the Darkness of Creation to the Light of the Resurrection. The Knights of Columbus’ bi-weekly meeting will be held at St. Gregory Parish in the Blue Room tomorrow, Monday, March 16, at 7:30 pm. The Rosary will be recited at 7:15 pm. Remembering Our Loved Ones — Our group of men and women would like to invite anyone who is finding it difficult to cope with a loss of a loved one to join us this Wednesday, March 18, at 7:00 pm in the School Library. We offer a relaxed setting and informal group talks about our loved ones, who they were and how we move on, in a non-clinical but very supportive way. Faith Formation Important Dates Ahead

Sunday March 29—Faith Formation Family Day, 9:30-11:00 am. Parents must be present with children K to grade 5. Middle School grades 6 to 8 will assist. We’re looking forward to a great end of the year lesson and family project together.

Wednesday, April 15, at 7:00 p.m. will be our Celebration of Confirmation with Bishop William Waltersheid. Practice is Saturday, April 4th at 9:00 a.m. in St. Gregory Church.
