OBSERVATIONS

17. (a) The participants showed marked interest in learning and adopting the skills of

Adventure activities. (b) The participants improved a lot in their physical as well as mental capabilities.

(c) They showed keen interest in participating in other adventure courses at JIM & WS.

(d) The participants got involved in every adventure activity in a well disciplined

manner and gave best of their performance. (e) Students are keen to increase the duration of the course and to have exposure of all the sub centers.

11

(f) Out of 60 KV Schools approved by Deputy Commissioner, KV Sangathan Jammu

region , only 32 turned up to attend adventure courses at JIM & WS. Rest of the KV

schools preferred to send their students to some private adventure agencies instead

of sending the students to JIM & WS, a nationally recognized Mountaineering

Institute. The quality of training and facilities provided at JIM & WS at the rate of Rs.

550/- (Including one good quality trek suit & a cap as parting gift) then Rs.700/- to

800/-, without any doubts are better than any other private Institutes. In addition, the

students have to travel a cumbersome long journey to remote parts of other states

instead of an easy and short travel to JIM & WS, which save precious time for more

training.

RECOMMENDATIONS 18. (a) It is recommended that more adventure groups may be sent to JIM & WS for

other adventure activities like Basic, Advance Mountaineering, Mountain

Adventure, Mountain rescue courses, Basic, Intermediate and Advance skiing

courses in winter and paragliding courses.

(b) It is requested that Commissioner KV Sangathan New Delhi and Deputy

Commissioner KV Sangathan, Jammu region may make sure that the students of all

approved KV’s shall be benefited and given chance to explore the J&K State

through JIM & WS.

(c) It is recommended and requested that maximum number of students should be

given exposure by sending for adventure courses throughout the year, rather than

restricted to May, Jun & Jul. Since these adventure courses are hardly for 07 to 10

days duration.

FEEDBACK

19. Photo copies of feedback by participants are attached as Appendix “C”, reflecting standards of training, accommodation and other facilities provided by the

CONCLUSION 21. During the Adventure camp the training was imparted to make all the Kendriya

Vidyalaya participants confident of living in Mountainous terrain, adjust with difficulties

faced during their stay away from home and to accept and adapt with different cultures.

Cultural exchange through adventure helped the participants in development of

personality, sportsmanship and character. They were also made aware of the

environmental changes and its adverse effects in future and the steps to be taken to

counter the issue. The performance of the participants validates the fact that desired

standards of exposure and training in mountain techniques were achieved.
