C O M Course outline for Wellbeing Warehouse 200-hour teacher training 2017 - 2018 The course is based on 8 weekends of training together with teaching experience alongside a senior yoga teacher. The student will be required to assist with class planning, apply the philosophies and teaching techniques, as well as make both verbal and hands on adjustments. The total number of contact hours in the classroom is 180 and in addition to this all breaks are held at the premises and to be used for group discussions, questions and preparation, all in the presence of the SYT and therefore counted as contact hours. This brings the total to the required 200 hours. Required Literature Students are required to purchase and study the following books prior to attending the course: The heart of Yoga by TKV Desikachar The Yoga Bible by Christina Brown The Perennial Psychology of the Bhagavad Gita by Swami Rama The Key Muscles of Hatha Yoga and The Key poses of Hatha Yoga by Ray Long Reading assignments will be sent out prior to each tutorial along with suggested reading from a relevant section of each book. In order to ensure students have read these passages, there will be group discussion and questions regarding the content. Students are required to keep a journal of their Yoga practise and before completion of course have proof of attendance of at least 20 led classes where an instructor is requested to sign in order to verify student attendance. Upon completion students will have a final assessment to qualify. The weekend’s content is set over 8 weekends as follows:

Thecourseisbasedon8weekendsoftrainingtogetherwithteachingexperiencealongsideasenioryogateacher.Thestudentwillberequiredtoassistwithclassplanning,applythephilosophiesandteachingtechniques,aswellasmakebothverbalandhandsonadjustments.

Thetotalnumberofcontacthoursintheclassroomis180andinadditiontothisallbreaksareheldatthepremisesandtobeusedforgroupdiscussions,questionsandpreparation,allinthepresenceoftheSYTandthereforecountedascontacthours.Thisbringsthetotaltotherequired200hours.

StudentsarerequiredtokeepajournaloftheirYogapractiseandbeforecompletionofcoursehaveproofofattendanceofatleast20ledclasseswhereaninstructorisrequestedtosigninordertoverifystudentattendance.

Uponcompletionstudentswillhaveafinalassessmenttoqualify.
