The Courier A Tale of Two Restaurants A few miles north, another restaurant has opened up with some fa- miliar faces at the old Row- dy’s in Good- ing (227 Main Street). Carrie Stiff- ler has worked To help make the City of Fairfield and Camas County more effective when apply- ing for grants, the City of Fairfield will host a Com- munity Review next week - June 24 & 25. During the two day re- view, listening sessions will be held as well as bus and walking tours. The visiting team consists of State and Federal entities who will be speaking to business owners and residents about Camas County and the City of Fair- field. They will evaluate our economic development, in- frastructure, and recreational opportunities, and present their initial observations and recommendations at a community meeting on Thursday, June 25th. They will also be presenting the mailed survey results. Residents are encouraged to participate in the com- munity meeting which will be held at the Senior Center (129 Willow Ave W) from 7 to 9 p.m. Refreshments will be provided. The visiting team will also be conducting one-hour lis- tening sessions with specif- ic stakeholder groups. For more information or to in- quire about participating in a listening session, contact Sara at 764-2226 or Megan at 481-1358. Over the last couple of weeks, two new restaurants have opened up in our area. The first week was a little rough as their building resisted the change over, but Sis- sy’s Place in Wendell is now up and running at the old Pit Stop building (397 S. Idaho). Sissy’s Place is a Family Style restaurant serving breakfast all day long, along with your favorite lunch items. Apparently, the Jalapeño Bacon Burger is to die for. They are open Tuesday thru Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Closed Mondays. Fairfield Community Review June 24th & 25th Gooding Robbery On June 15, 2015, at ap- proximately 11:40 PM, the Gooding Police Depart- ment responded to a report of an Armed Robbery at the Maverick Station, lo- cated at 1899 Highway 26 in the City of Gooding. A male subject entered the store and held the clerk at gunpoint. The male subject left the store with an un- disclosed amount of cur- rency. The Gooding Police Department has obtained surveillance video and we are currently following up on several leads. The male subject was wearing blue jeans, white shoes, a black zip-up hoodie (turned around to cover the face), and had what appeared to be a tur- quoise shirt underneath the hoodie. Anyone who was in the area and might have seen something should call SIRCOMM Dispatch at (208)324-1911, or the Gooding Police Depart- ment at (208)934-8436 dur- ing business hours. The Staff at Sissy’s serving Great Family Food in this building for 18 years as a cook, a waitress, and everything else. Now she is running it as her own business - the Chill n’Grill. Open Wednesday thru Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., the Chill n’Grill serves lunch and dinner with burgers, steaks, sea food, and more. And don’t be afraid to bring your children - it’s a family friendly restaurant with good food for everyone.
