While Idreamed of traveling in a com-fortable RV, my husband envi-sioned touring on a motorcycle. Ithought he was kidding at thetime, but lately he's been scan-ning the classifieds for the rightbike. He's trying to convince methat touring motorcycles aremore than comfortable enough totravel 1,500 miles. I'd like tobelieve him, but I keep picturingus stranded under a bridgeevery time it rains. Aretouring motorcyclesreally a good way totravel or should I settlefor nothing less than acozy RV?

• • •Cash: If your heart is set on hav-

ing a kitchen and bathroom withyou as you travel, we're afraid atouring motorcycle just won't com-pare with an RV. It's really difficultto carry a refrigerator on the back ofa bike.

Carry: However, touring thecountry on a motorcycle has itsadvantages. As avid motorcyclistsourselves, we love the feel of trav-eling in the open air. And for long

cross-country trips, your husbandmay not find a more appropriatebike than one designed for touring.

Cash: There are a lot of makesand models, but touring bikesdesigned by large manufacturerslike Harley Davidson, Honda,BMW and Yamaha possess somereally nice amenities.
