ABOUT IMA NORTH AMERICA INC. In 2004 IMA acquired Nova Packaging Systems for its tablet counting and line integration expertise under the Lakso®, Merrill® and Kalish brands. In 2010 Nova Packaging Systems was renamed as IMA North America Inc. DESIGNED TO AVOID CROSS-CONTAMINATION, PROVIDES HIGHLY ACCURATE COUNTING ALONG WITH PRODUCTION INSPECTION AND SINGLE PRODUCT REJECTION.

The Conta is based on the vibratory tray method of feeding products to a counting head. The inspection and rejection capability is achieved through the use of a vacuum drum that takes the products from the vibratory trays to the high-resolution color camera system for inspection and diverted from the vacuum drum in case of non-conforming product. The same camera system also performs the counting of the product which is then verified by barrier sensors mounted below the vacuum drum assuring highly accurate counts. With an automatic feedback control of the product flow, the machine is easy to set up and can operate without the presence of an operator. CONTA150

DESIGNED FOR EASY CLEANING AND QUICK CHANGEOVERS.

TRUCOUNT® The system is comprised of an emitter and receiver head mounted in the path of the product just above the bottles. It is self-configurable for any slat cavity configurations ensuring that existing slats can be accommodated and most importantly, that the ideal cavity spacing be used to maximize output speed. The product is learned by the system and the parameters are stored in the recipe for easy set-up and changeover. As the product falls through the counting area, the product is scanned compared to the saved parameters and counted if parameters are met. Because the product is counted after leaving the cavity and the product path is fully enclosed to the bottle, 100% count accuracy is assured.

The slat counter is a proven and efficient method of tablet and capsules counting. The NOVA SL-39 features an optional innovative replacement filling head that dramatically reduces downtimes due to changeovers and long-lasting cleaning operations.Besides Lakso® and Merrill® slats, this counter it also available with the TruCount® 100% count verification system.

COUNTING TECHNOLOGIES

SENSORS NOT ONLY ABLE TO COUNT PRODUCTS CORRECTLY BUT ALSO TO WORK IN DIFFICULT CONDITIONS.

The counting accuracy depends on many factors such as counter design, product flow control, gating system and, last but not least sensors. Over the years Swiftpack has developed new solutions in order to improve quality and efficiency.

OPTICAL SENSOR Very reliable and accurate, infrared emitter and receiver is able to scan at very high rate (16 scans per millisecond). A detected product that falls between minimum and maximum Dark Time is considered a good product and counted. Sensors can detect and count two tablets falling closely together but not completely overlapped.

E.F.S. (ELECTROSTATIC FIELD SENSOR)Suitable for dusty products, E.F.S. is a unique sensor control able to discriminate between referenced good product and broken tablets, empty or half empty capsules. The mass of the tablet is given by a reference curve. E.F.S. is a dust resistant sensor. The system is suitable to handle both capsules and tablets and it is dust immune.

CAMERA Counting machines can be equipped with Camera Vision System to detect cross contamination (products with different colours).

The table below indicates the detection capabilities of the optical and E.F.S. sensors for different tablet/capsule damage and scenarios. If they arenot detected then they will be counted as a good product, if they are detected then the machine will reject the bottle containing that product.

BOTTLE BLOWERBottles are introduced inline to the machine and are inverted over a set of oscillating air-jet nozzles inside each bottle with clean air. The main features are an ergonomic design, fully interlock guarding, container clamp, vacuum ducting, static elimination device and in-feed and out-feed detection.

TABLET ELEVATORThe SWIFTLIFT tablet Elevator is the ideal solution to constantly keep the right level of product in the counting machine or any feeding hopper. Its versatility of use allows also an easy connection to blister machines or similar. It incorporates a 100 liters standard production hopper with a vibratory feeding system with chip sieve and dust extraction points. A gentle tipping action preserves the integrity of very delicate products. The unit can be completely dismantled for cleaning without the use of tools.

Fully automatic cGMP and user friendly machines, the Lakso® cottoners utilize an inverted “U” technique of inserting cushioning material into containers, thus maintaining product integrity for a cleaner packing process which eliminates stray wisps of cotton. Specially angled shears that cut coil cleanly and uniformly each time to remove any potential for tails or wisps are a feature exclusive to Lakso® cottoners. Cotton inspection systems are available to detect high or missing cotton, either as an integrated add-on to an existing machine, or as a separate stand-alone inspection station.

TABLE-TOP MACHINES

SWIFTCOUNT / SWIFTCHECK SWIFTCOUNT and SWIFTCHECK are designed to feed and count any size, shape or quantity of tablets without change parts. In addition, its quality control makes the SWIFTCHECK the ideal unit to check the counting precision of filled containers in a whole packaging line. Both machines incorporate a similar microprocessor unit to that used on the high speed Swiftpack counting machines and grant the same high level of accuracy and reliability.

TB4 TABLET COUNTER The TB4 electronic tablet counter is suitable for most shapes of tablet and products such as capsules, dragées, hard or soft gelatin capsules and operates in batches of 1 to 10,000. Its excellent GMP design allows easy cleaning and quick adjustment and set up.
