Survival Skills for New Supervisors / $199As a supervisor you play a critical role. You are the link between your work group and the rest of the organization. In this course, you will learn five skills that successful supervisors use to lead work teams and make a positive impact on their organizations. You will explore core skills for guiding and organizing the work of others, developing direct reports, managing performance and managing relationships. This half-day course provides the tools and techniques to help you make a strong start as a new supervisor.

Foundations of Leadership / $579Supervisors with effective leadership skills are critical to the success of any organization. These front line leaders have a strong influence on quality, service, and teamwork. This course helps new and seasoned supervisors build the core interpersonal skills to effectively lead work teams. The Foundations of Leadership is a series of seven 3-hour sessions: The Role of the Leader, Communicating for Results, The Power of Accountability, Motivating to Excel, Coaching for High Performance, Leading Work Team, and Resolving Conflict.

Project Management Fundamentals / $399This course is an introduction to the global standards of project management provided by the Project Management Institute (PMI). You will discover how to apply widely accepted rules and guidelines to successfully plan and execute projects. This basic Microsoft Access course can help you and your organization collect and manage large amounts of data. This is a condensed 12 hour version, spread out over two weeks.For more in-depth training in Microsoft Access, please consider Microsoft Office Access Level 1 and 2 which provide 16 hours of focused study over two courses.

Microsoft Office Access - Level 1 / $179Many job roles today involve some form of data management. tMicrosoft Office Excel - Level 1 / $179This course builds the foundational understanding of Microsoft Office Excel that is necessary to create and work with electronic spreadsheets to track, manage and analyze data. During this one-day course, students will learn how to navigate the Excel user interface, perform calculations, modify and format a worksheet, and print and manage workbooks. To ensure success, participants should be familiar with personal computers and have experience opening and closing applications, navigating basic file structures, and managing files and folders.

Microsoft Office Excel - Level 2 / $179Upon successful completion of this course, students will gain tools and skills to customize and format data for more powerful presentations. During this class, participants will engage in various types of activities to practice the guidelines and procedures and to increase proficiency. Students will learn how to customize the Excel environment, create advanced formulas, analyze data by using functions and conditional formatting, visualize data by using basic charts, and analyze data by using pivot tables, slicers, and pivot charts.

Microsoft Office Excel / $179Learn how to manage and analyze data more productively with Excel. In this 12-hour course, you will learn how to create spreadsheets and workbooks. You’ll engage in hands-on practice with the help of an instructor to navigate worksheets, enter text and values, create/edit formulas, and enter cell references. Microsoft Office Specialist Certificate 2016 / $1,499Earning a Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification can help you set yourself apart in the competitive job market and broaden your career opportunities. The MOS Certification series is a comprehensive 15-week course that prepares you for certification in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access. Students must have a basic understanding of computers and keyboarding skills to be successful in the course. A minimum score of Level 3 in WorkKeys Reading and Locating Information is highly recommended. Course fee includes books, practice software vouchers and test vouchers for five certification exams.

Cisco Routing and Switching: Introduction to Networks / $566Get started on a training path that leads to becoming a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). This course is the first of four courses that prepare students for the CCNA certification exam. In this course, you will learn current and emerging computer networking technology. You will gain comprehensive knowledge of safety, networking, network terminology and protocols, and network standards. You will also learn about LANs, WANs, OSI models, cabling, cabling tools, Cisco routers, router programming, star topology, and IP addressing. Books are not required.

Cisco Routing and Switching Essentials / $566This course is part of a 4-course series that prepares students to earn the Cisco Networking Certificate. This course is a study of LANs, WANs, OSI models, ethernet, token ring, fiber-distributed data interface TCP/IP addressing protocol, dynamic routing, routing, and the network administrator’s role and function. This class prepares students for the ICND1 certification exam.

Cisco Routing and Switching Scaling Networks / $566This course is part of a 4-course series that prepares students to earn the Cisco Networking Certificate. You will learn about LANs, WANs, OSI models, ethernet, token ring, fiber-distributed data interface TCP/IP addressing protocol, dynamic routing, and routing. You will also explore the Network Administrator’s role and function. Students must have completed either Cisco Introduction to Networks to enroll in this course.

Cisco Routing and Switching Connecting Networks / $566This course is part of a 4-course series that prepares students to earn the Cisco Networking Certificate. This course is a study of configuring Cisco routers. Students will build competency in LAN design, basic switch concepts and configuration, VLANs, VTP, STP, Inter-VLAN routing and basic wireless concepts and configuration. Continuing Education courses can prepare individuals for a healthcare career in as little as five weeks, or enhance basic skills for career advancement.

CPR Healthcare Provider / $69The skills of CPR for victims of all ages and for varied target groups are taught. Some courses will present ventilation with a barrier device, bag-mask device and oxygen, relief of foreign body airway obstruction. Some of the courses will combine information and skills needed to provide layperson basic life support. The use and operation of the Automated External Defibrillator will be taught. Successful completion of the CPR receives registration through the American Heart Association. AHA BLS Manual required for class entry.

CPR Heartsaver AED 1st Aid / $69Cardiopulmonary resuscitation for Heartsaver First Aid with CPR covers Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO) and BLS skills for the adult, infant, and child as well as First Aid.Successful completion receives registration through The American Heart Association.

Dental Infiltration Anesthesia / $195Infiltration Anesthesia will present course objectives covering psychology of pain control, physiology of pain control via infiltration, effective and safe infiltration technique, management of complications of infiltration, and clinical competence in infiltration anesthesia. Dr. Charles Crosby and the Dental Hygiene Faculty of York Technical College are presenting this course. SC State Board will award 7 CEUs upon course completion. Successful completion of this course will meet the criteria to take the South Carolina Board of Dentistry Infiltration Certification Exam in Columbia, SC.

Electrocardiography / $330This course provides the basic skills necessary to perform ECGs in a hospital, physician’s office or other healthcare setting.The student will be able to perform and interpret basic ECGs.

EMT Basic / $1,079Students must be 18-years old by the course end date and have a high school diploma or GED. Participants receive medical knowledge to provide care to the ill and the injured at the scene and enroute to a medical facility. This course is DHEC approved and includes CPR training, law, patient assessment, practice, use of defibrillators and new patient assisted medications procedures using epinephrine auto injectors and prescribed inhalers.

EMT Basic: Hybrid / $1,079This 200 hour hybrid course (online learning and hands-on lab practice) includes all the skills necessary for students to provide emergency medical care under the SC DHEC guidelines. Students are required to have access to a working computer with MS Office and internet capabilities. Students MUST be prepared to dedicate time and energy to this course by planning online learning time and attending the hands-on skills practice sessions as well as the ride-along experiences.

Emergency Medical Responders (formerly First Responders) / $309Emergency Medical Responders (EMR’s) have the knowledge to provide immediate lifesaving interventions while awaiting additional EMS resourses to arrive. They also provide assistance to higher level personnel at the scene and during transport. Emergency Medical Responders are a vital part of the comprehensive EMS response system; performing basic interventions with minimal equipment.

Emergency Medical Responders: Hybrid / $349 This 48-hour EMR Hybrid course (online and hands-on lab practice) includes all the skills necessary for students to provide emergency medical care under the SC DHEC guidelines. York Technical College offers comprehensive programs of systematic, competency-based instruction in the field of building construction with a focus on

Equipment Operation, Construction Management, Electrical, Plumbing and Utility Workers.

Lineworker Program / $5,400York Technical College has partnered with utility companies and contractors in North and South Carolina to offer a comprehensive training program that will prepare candidates for entry-level Line Worker positions. This eight (8) week Entry Level Line Worker Certificate Program includes classroom, lab, and field instruction in pole climbing, overhead and underground line installation. Students will be assessed throughout the training in hands-on skill performance, relevant subject area knowledge, and safety compliance. Graduates will be prepared for entry-level employment with utility and cable companies.

UndergroundThe first portion of the Lineworker Program is two (2) weeks and covers proper wire splicing, basic excavator operation, and underground power cable installation. Tuition $1,350

Pre-Certification The second portion of the Lineworker Program is one (1) week and assesses the student’s ability to climb utility poles and work with basic lineman hand tools while on the pole. Students are required to pass the Pre-Certification to proceed to the Overhead Line Installation portion. Tuition $675

OverheadThe third and final portion of the program is five (5) weeks. Students who progress to this point will be repairing and installing power lines on poles up to 40 feet high, as well as learning how to work from a bucket truck. Tuition $3,375

Truck Driving CDL Class B License / $2,195Learn to drive commercial vehicles such as delivery and utility trucks with a Class B commercial driver’s license. The two (2) week course provides classroom instruction, yard/field maneuvers and behind-the-wheel/observation training for any single vehicle with gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,001 pounds or more, or any vehicle (trailer) not in excess of 10,000 pound GVWR. Students must have their Class B Permit before the start of class, which includes general knowledge and air brakes test at the DMV.

Truck Driving CDL Class A License / $4,295Learn to drive large commerical vehicles, such as a tractor trailers, with a Class A commercial driver’s license. This six (6) week course provides classroom instruction, yard/field maneuvers and behind-the-wheel/observation training.This six week, 240 hour course prepares students to obtain their Class A Commercial Driver’s license. Students participate in classroom training as well as behind the wheel training in the yard and open road.

Truck Driving CDL Class A License for Line Workers / $3,295The CDL Class A for Line Workers course provides classroom instruction, yard/field maneuvers and behind-the-wheel/observation training. Topics include map reading, logs, trip planning, vehicle inspections and systems, DOT regulations, and safe operation of the CDL vehicles. Conventional and cab over tractors provide hands-on training to enable clients to obtain their CDL Class A license.

In addition to the hours, you will need three years of experience with a salesperson’s license and pass a state broker’s exam. This course covers short and long range planning, operating a real estate brokerage, liability of a broker for torts of agents; trust accounting, contracts, and ethics.

Real Estate Sales: Pre-licensing / $489This 60-hour course is the first step for those who want to list, sell, purchase, exchange, lease, or dispose of real estate for others in the state of South Carolina. Defensive Driving – 8 Hour Course / $99This course meets defensive driving requirements established by the National Safety Council and the SC Department of Highway & Public Transportation. Points must be on driving record prior to taking the class. This course can be taken for a four point credit only once every three years. All out-of-state drivers must check with their state DMV prior to registering for the class. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure the class will be honored in their state.

Passport to Retirement / $49Passport to Retirement is a comprehensive financial planning course that educates people on how to best prepare for and execute a successful retirement. This course includes topics such as how to assess the cost of retirement, determine your retirement income sources, manage investment risk, and prepare your estate for your heirs. This class also covers important topics such as how to address the effects of inflation, how to manage your tax liability, and preparing for the need of long term care. Registration includes the textbook, (containing examples, case studies and exercises) all designed to help prepare for retirement.

A blend of classroom instruction and range riding, the MRA New Rider Course delivers the basics of motorcycle operation in Harley-Davidson style. You’ll learn in a relaxed, supportive environment from instructors certified by both the Motorcycle Safety Foundation® (MSF) and Harley-Davidson. After passing written and riding skills evaluations, you’ll receive an MSF Rider Course Completion Card that could qualify you for discounts on insurance. Completion of this course will also qualify you to take the South Carolina skills test, all at our facility and on a bike you are familiar with. Upon completion, you will receive a South Carolina Waiver form to take to the SCDMV to complete your motorcycle endorsement.

Certifications and Licensures

Professional certifications offer an assurance to employers that you are qualified to perform certain job duties and tasks. In specific fields, certifications are required before candidates will be considered for a position. In many other fields, certifications - while not required - are highly valued and help job seekers gain a competitive edge in a tough job market. Courses are also available to meet the needs of business and industry and can be customized to their particular specifications when needed. Programs that are approved through state agencies (such as DMV or DHEC) meet special occupational licensure requirements. Several occupational programs are also offered online to enable study from the convenience of home.

Programs for Entrepreneurs, Job Seekers, and Employers

Entrepreneurs can take advantage of specialized courses that will prepare them to do business planning, operations, and marketing.

Job seekers can prepare for employment through WorkKeys assessments and skills development that will improve reading, math, and information locating skills to employable levels or to align with specific employer job requirements. Short courses are available for skills in high demand for the local workforce to enable students to build upon or develop skills needed for the competitive job market.

Corporate training solutions can be custom designed to fit any employer’s workforce needs. Training can be conducted at the company site or at a college location.

CEU Credit

Students who satisfactorily complete occupational skills courses receive a certificate of completion and Continuing Education Units (CEU) as appropriate. One CEU is awarded for every 10 contact hours of a course.

Registration and Payment

Scheduling an appointment with a Program Manager to learn more detailed information about an occupational program is recommended. Registration may be made in person, by mail, by telephone at (803) 325-2888, by FAX at (803) 981-7327, or online with a credit card. Tuition may be paid by cash, check, MasterCard, Visa, Discover or American Express. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required. Some programs may require special tools and supplies. Tuition fees do not typically include cost of textbooks.

Financial Aid

Funding for non-credit programs is available on a limited basis. For more information on available funding, please contact the Corporate and Continuing Education Department at (803) 328-2888.

Refunds

Refunds will not be given to persons canceling less than two business days prior to the start of a program. If the College is forced to cancel due to low enrollment, full refunds will be made.

NOTE: Some certificate programs may have non-refundable seating fees.

How Do I Register?

Registering online is easy! Just follow these steps:

• Go to http://yorktech.edu/continuing-education/

• Scroll down past the course categories and click on the “Search/Register” link at the bottom of the page. You will be taken to the “Continuing Education Menu” on the York Tech WebAdvisor page.

• On the right side of the page, click “Register and Pay for Continuing Education Classes”.

• Enter the course code in the “Course Code Number” box and click SUBMIT.

• On the next page, check the select box next to the course you would like to register for and click SUBMIT.

• On the following page, fill out your personal information, click SUBMIT and follow the on-screen instructions to complete payment.

Don’t have the Course Code Number? No Problem! You can also search by entering the name of the course in the “Search For (Key Word)” box and clicking SUBMIT.

Not quite sure of the course title?You can also browse available courses in each category.Toward the bottom of the page is a dropdown menu labeled “Topic Code” which will allow you to browse all of the courses currently offered in a particular category.This is also a great way to see what other courses may be of interest to you.
