Utilize your current forms of communication (digital monitors, weekly newsletter, marquees, etc.). Post your blood drive information and results on social media. Leave desk drops at cubicles and mailboxes. Post facts about blood donation and blood drive flyers throughout the office, breakroom, cafeteria, restrooms and timeclocks. Start a SleevesUp campaign to get your other locations across the country involved. Capture blood drive photos, including your leadership donating, to share for future drives. Develop a community outreach plan to broaden your impact. Utilize bulletin boards to post blood drive results, future dates and recognize milestone donors. Offer Donor Incentives Offer incentives such as time off, jeans day, work from home day, special food, wellness points or a drawing for a gift card or a prime parking spot. Does your department have a budget to purchase donor incentive items? Work with your Red Cross account manager to review and approve the items. Check with your account manager to learn if Red Cross donor incentives are being offered. Invite food trucks to serve lunch on the day of the blood drive. Offer a special incentive to the recruiter who signs up the most donors. Turn the Blood Drive into an Event Create a theme or use seasonal Red Cross themes such as Sickle Cell Awareness, National Blood Donor Month, Red Cross Month, Missing Types, etc. Create a competition between departments or surrounding businesses with a traveling trophy. Rotate blood drive sponsorship throughout the year between different departments. Decorate cubicles, cafeterias, and common areas with the blood drive theme. Extend the blood drive hours for employees’ family members or open the blood drive to the public. Host the blood drive in honor of a local or internal blood recipient. Recruit Face to Face Recruit during huddles, department or safety meetings, cubicle to cubicle, in the cafeteria and breakroom.
