Subj: Coronation of :)ueen Elizabeth II, 2 ,June 1953
lo It is not too early to bring to your attention and to the attention of all Board members the fact that it 1vill be impossible to conduct any business in London with overseas visitors during May and June of 1953~
2o Even today hotel accorrunodat5ons are arranged by this office several days in advance to insure that visito:r-s will be adequately, not luxuriously~ taken care of~ Today~ transportation out of Engl.and. is difficult to, with the Lendon MATS office 3etting only three seats per week on the two Frankfurt-Paris~Washington nights,, Of course t.he regul.1ir Mi\TS service from Prestwick through Ireland-Newfoundland and Nova Scot'ia to Westover is also a'raiL'lble" It seems unlikely that. additional military flights will be laid on for the Coronationo Commercial transport 9 both sea and afr .t1 is now booked solid in both clirections 9 with ~CllJi!: waitin~ lists 9 over the Coronation periodo
·3u This office vaill be unable to arrange aec:ommodat.ions ar transportation for May and June 1953» or to arrange for seats along the Coronation route, Official visits should conclude by 1 ~4ay 1953 and not commence again until mid-July 19530 Probably the whole summer following the Coronation will f:i:nd this Island innwidated with tourists making accommodations both difficult and expensive.
4o Additional da.ta.9 to assist t.hooe able to afford the expense of a parsona.1 visiti> is contained in the attflched· O.."'pies ~t." a. letter from the ArlIJll Attache~ LonUon» Fngland,
