What is copyright?

• Copyright are rights that protect someone’s work and stops others from using their work.

• This includes; music, movies, books and pictures.

• Taking someone else’s work without their permission is stealing!

How to avoid copyright

Always recognise someone else’s work!

We do this by referencing or using a bibliography;

• The author

• The date

• Where it came from

Why this matters to you

• We all watch movies

• We use the internet

• We read books and articles

We have to be careful and make sure we acknowledge other peoples work

These are all the work of

some one else!

How to find copyright free images

• We can avoid stealing someone else’s image by only using images that are copyright free

• We can do this by going onto www.google.comsettings advanced settingsusage rightsselect ‘free to use, share or modify, even commercially’

• Or by selecting images from www.flickr.com/creativecommons

What is Creative Commons?

• Creative Commons gives copyright owners (authors, artists, photographers) the ability to share the rights of there work with everyone else legally.

• These owners can choose whether there work has to stay the same, or if it can change.
