Course descriptionCourse Description:
Fundamentals of electricity and magnetism specific to dc and ac circuit analysis, transient circuit behavior, electrostatics and rotating machinery.
Course Objectives:As a result of this course, I hope that you can better:•Understand the physics behind electrical systems.•Apply these concepts when designing and using electrical circuits.•Analyze and draw conclusions from experimentally obtained data. •Apply spreadsheet or modeling software to organize data, perform calculations, and display results graphically. •Communicate technical ideas effectively.

• There are 11 labs in total. • Lab scripts are on the course web page• All labs have a pre-lab, worth 2 points which must be handed to the TA at the start of the lab• Lab performance is worth 1 point• The lab report is worth 7 points, and includes:
• 1) Introduction. 2) Experiment and Results. 3) Analysis. 4) Summary.• It must be typed. Joint reports (with your lab partners) are OK.• Reports are due 1 week after your lab.
• Labs are worth 20% of your grade• You can miss one lab, or we will drop the lab with the lowest score.• This is to cover unavoidable, but unexcused, absences – not parties!

Good Lab Practice
• PLEASE KEEP THE LAB TIDY. • Return components to their boxes.• Make circuits neat• Check circuit before turning power on• Remove power before changing circuit elements• Do not touch circuit with bare hands when the power
is on• Make sure the grounding is good• Do not short voltage sources or open current
sources• Tidy your lab station before leaving
