QUOTE OF THE WEEK
‘Keep Calm because Santa is coming to town’
Last week was a particularly enjoyable and memorable week, especially for Year 6. Last Tuesday Year 6 went on their farewell excursion which included Ten Pin Bowling, swimming and pizzas galore. See photos attached. Wednesday was the day for our Year 6 Farewell assembly where Mr Eason did a terrific job highlighting each Year 6 student’s memorable experiences and achievements both before and during their time at Coorabell. The students made some excellent speeches before concluding the assembly with the traditional presentation of flowers to their parents. Wednesday night was the Year 6 farewell dinner at the One Acre Restaurant in Bangalow, where parents, students and staff mingled and had a fantastic night

reminiscing the Year 6’s time at Coorabell. Thursday our boys’ cricket team visited Mullumbimby Public School for a ‘friendly’ cricket match. It was a wonderful experience. Big thank you to Mr Lees (Mullumbimby Principal) who made sure the day was a marvellous success and huge thank you to Janet (Mullumbimby parent) who provided the cricketers with a delicious lunch and refreshments. Friday was our ‘Big Day Out’ for all our students at Ballina Pool and waterslide where Susan, Sybil (Monty and Reggie’s parents) and some fantastic parent helpers served up a lunch fit for a king. It was a brilliant day! See photos attached.
Today unfortunately was India’s (Kindy) last day at Coorabell as Franka, Steffen and India fly overseas tomorrow. We wish them well in their
new adventure.
Today our special guest Wanjiku visited our school. Both Wanjiku and I agreed that we must enhance the level of contact between our sister school (Mahera Academy/Kenya) for the benefit of the Coorabell kids and the Kenyan students.
Big thank you to Lynne, Aaron and Ginger for their wonderful contributions with (continued over page)

the Reading Dogs Program. See photo attached. Massive thank you also to Angela (Joseph’s mum) for covering a huge amount of our library books and also spending time organising our library for us.
Don’t forget tomorrow’s music concert will take place at 9.30am in the library featuring musical items from Guy’s students as well as each class showcasing a ukulele song that they have learnt. Big thank you to Stukulele, Guy and Hugh for all their productive work throughout the year with our students. After lunch 1 (at 11.40am) Nat (Hiva & Kuhane’s mum) has generously volunteered to stage a whole school viewing of our school concert. All welcome to attend.
Wednesday is the last day of school for our students. Unfortunately Santa couldn’t make it to the ‘Big Day Out’ but rumour has it that the jolly man will make an appearance on Wednesday before our Year 6 leave the school gates in our traditional guard of honour. The last day will also be an optional mufti day for all students.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank our brilliant staff, wonderful P&C, incredible parents, students and our wider school community who collaborated so successfully to ensure that 2019 was another magnificent year for Coorabell Public.
Have a delightful holiday, a superb xmas and a fabulous new year.
Many thanks
