In our small communities, the success of local business is vital to our economic growth. Without a thriving business marketplace, our livelihoods would suffer. It is important that these businesses be connected to the world at the click of a mouse so they can grow and prosper; sustaining our economy, and providing us the best available services. It is with this in mind that Marquette-Adams Telephone Cooperative is committed to serving our business customers with the best in telephone, Internet, and television service at competitive rates and unmatched quality. Located at W3731 State Rd 23 just outside of Montello, Nelson and Pade, Inc uses Marquette-Adams’ state-of-the-art fiber-optic technology to educate, supply and support people interested in their specialty: controlled environment agriculture through the use of aquaponics food production. Aquaponics, or raising fish and vegetables in an integrated, soilless system, is used to grow fresh nutritious food throughout the year using less space and less water than traditional agricultural methods. All of this is done without the use of herbicides, pesticides, or chemical fertilizers. Aquaponics provides food security and safety for communities all over the world, and the industry continues to grow quickly.

Known as an industry leader in aquaponics, Nelson and Pade, Inc was originally operated for 20 years in California prior to its owners, Rebecca Nelson and John Pade, moving the business to Montello in 2006. In 2009, the business was moved to its current location, and now employs 22 people. Aside from offering aquaponics systems and educational and support services for agriculture enthusiasts all over the world, they also operate their patented commercial Clear Flow Aquaponics System at their facility, providing fresh vegetables and fish to our local communities and schools. Using the high speed Internet provided by Marquette-Adams has allowed Nelson and Pade, Inc to become a global business presence despite its rural location. It gives the company’s staff the ability to access the Montello office electronically, affording them the ability to work remotely if necessary. Also, Nelson and Pade, Inc is releasing a brand new Virtual Reality tour of their aquaponics facility, and recently began offering online training and webinars, further expanding their reach to clients across the world. None of these cutting-edge services would be available without the use of a reliable, lightning-fast Internet connection through Marquette-Adams Telephone Cooperative.

Not only is Marquette-Adams proud to support a thriving local business that teaches sustainability and environmental awareness, but they are also able to facilitate learning opportunities through Nelson and Pade, Inc and their partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP). Together, they offer new educational opportunities and research that is helping their industry grow. Using their voice line and high-speed Internet connections from Marquette-Adams makes coordination with the university a possibility. Nelson and Pade, Inc offers tours of their state-of-the-art greenhouses every Friday at 1 pm, or by appointment. Individuals, groups or clubs are welcome to tour.

EASTER Coloring ContestMarquette-Adams Telephone Cooperative is having a coloring contest for kids ages 3-10, at our office in Oxford. There are all sorts of coloring pictures to choose from, so come on in and grab some entries for the children in your family! Pictures will be located in our office, so feel free to take a few. We will hang all submissions, so even if you’re too old to win, your colored picture will still be displayed. All entries are due by Monday, March 21, and the winners will be drawn on Tuesday, March 22. Remember, we are judging on creativity, not perfection, so have fun with the contest and show us your creative skills. On Wednesday, January 27, Marquette-Adams Telephone Cooperative sponsored the Endeavor Sharing Supper, a free community meal for local residents of Endeavor and the surrounding areas. These sharing meals are held the last Wednesday of every month, and are an excellent opportunity for people to network and share a great dining experience free of social and economic borders.

Not only did Marquette-Adams sponsor the event, but we also had a large group of our employees volunteer to set up, serve, and clean up following the meal. The Endeavor Sharing Supper Leadership Team Directors and volunteers served a delicious meal of chicken parmesan. It was a great opportunity for us to get to know some of our members, as well as make new connections and hear what people in our communities had to say.

We set up an informational booth where we provided some free gifts and answered questions for any of our current or potential new members. We also brought along some pictures for the children in attendance to color for our Annual Easter Coloring contest. They colored some very creative pictures that are currently being displayed in our office. All in all, the night was a huge success and we had a great time. Nearly 200 people were in attendance, and although we were busy, we enjoyed the opportunity to enrich the community.

EASTER Coloring ContestMarquette-Adams Telephone Cooperative is having a coloring contest for kids ages 3-10, at our office in Oxford. There are all sorts of coloring pictures to choose from, so come on in and grab some entries for the children in your family! Pictures will be located in our office, so feel free to take a few. We will hang all submissions, so even if you’re too old to win, your colored picture will still be displayed. All entries are due by Monday, March 21, and the winners will be drawn on Tuesday, March 22. Remember, we are judging on creativity, not perfection, so have fun with the contest and show us your creative skills. The winners of the contest will receive a special Easter prize, and have their photo displayed in our E-Newsletter. All entries must include the name and phone number of the child and his or her guardian.

On Wednesday, January 27, Marquette-Adams Telephone Cooperative sponsored the Endeavor Sharing Supper, a free community meal for local residents of Endeavor and the surrounding areas. These sharing meals are held the last Wednesday of every month, and are an excellent opportunity for people to network and share a great dining experience free of social and economic borders.

Not only did Marquette-Adams sponsor the event, but we also had a large group of our employees volunteer to set up, serve, and clean up following the meal. The Endeavor Sharing Supper Leadership Team Directors and volunteers served a delicious meal of chicken parmesan. It was a great opportunity for us to get to know some of our members, as well as make new connections and hear what people in our communities had to say.

We set up an informational booth where we provided some free gifts and answered questions for any of our current or potential new members. We also brought along some pictures for the children in attendance to color for our Annual Easter Coloring contest. They colored some very creative pictures that are currently being displayed in our office. All in all, the night was a huge success and we had a great time. Nearly 200 people were in attendance, and although we were busy, we enjoyed the opportunity to enrich the community.

Located at W3731 State Rd 23 just outside of Montello, Nelson and Pade, Inc uses Marquette-Adams’ state-of-the-art fiber-optic technology to educate, supply and support people interested in their specialty: controlled environment agriculture through the use of aquaponics food production. Aquaponics, or raising fish and vegetables in an integrated, soilless system, is used to grow fresh nutritious food throughout the year using less space and less water than traditional agricultural methods. All of this is done without the use of herbicides, pesticides, or chemical fertilizers. Aquaponics provides food security and safety for communities all over the world, and the industry continues to grow quickly.

Known as an industry leader in aquaponics, Nelson and Pade, Inc was originally operated for 20 years in California prior to its owners, Rebecca Nelson and John Pade, moving the business to Montello in 2006. In 2009, the business was moved to its current location, and now employs 22 people. Aside from offering aquaponics systems and educational and support services for agriculture enthusiasts all over the world, they also operate their patented commercial Clear Flow Aquaponics System at their facility, providing fresh vegetables and fish to our local communities and schools. Using the high speed Internet provided by Marquette-Adams has allowed Nelson and Pade, Inc to become a global business presence despite its rural location. It gives the company’s staff the ability to access the Montello office electronically, affording them the ability to work remotely if necessary. Also, Nelson and Pade, Inc is releasing a brand new Virtual Reality tour of their aquaponics facility, and recently began offering online training and webinars, further expanding their reach to clients across the world.
