This document is designed and made for selected SAP hardware partners who are entitled to install SAP Business All-in-

One related to the SAP BaiO fast-start program)

It details the steps to install a SAP system on a server based on SAP MaxDB and SUSELinux Enterprise and describes step one of four main steps of the fast-start programdeployment in a technical view.

Step 1 is executed by hardware partners that take part in the fast-start program; the othersteps are executed by SAP Channel Partners that take part in the fast-start program.

    2 Preparation

Before you start with the installation using the Installation Wizard, you need to prepare yourhardware and collect some information and data that are necessary during the installationprocess.

Your hardware vendor delivers the information to you how to set up the hardware.

The SAP software partner provides you with the information about the systems to beinstalled.

The Installation Wizard installs 1 operating system and 1 SAP system on 1 server.

With the Installation Wizard, it is not possible to install 2 SAP systems on 1 server.

If you want to install a second system on a second server, you need to run the stepsdescribed in this document twice.

    Customer-specific information

The SAP software partner provides you with the following information about the systemlandscape to be installed.

The system landscape to be installed generally consists of two systems:

    a development system

    a productive system

Generally, different data sets are used for these systems.

Make sure you have all this information available when you start the installation as itneeds to be entered during the installation. Wrong or incomplete information mightlead to a corrupt set-up or abort of the installation.

If you are requested to set up a three-system landscape, please contact yourhardware vendor for additional information about the servers to be used, before youstart with the installation.

Check the glossary of this document for further details about the terms used below.

    5 Glossary

    December 2008 19

    5 Glossary

Database Log Mode You can use log settings to configure the mostimportant properties of transaction logging.

Log Mode: You can use the log mode to configurewhether the database system mirrors the log area.

We recommend that you use this setting only ifhardware-based mirroring is not possible.

Overwrite mode for the log area: Specifies whether thedatabase system can overwrite redo log entries in thelog area even if they have not been backed up.

DNS Domain searchlist The Domain Name System associates various sorts ofinformation with domain names; most importantly, it

serves as the phone book for the Internet bytranslating humanreadable computer hostnames, e.g.www.example.com, into the IP addresses, e.g.208.77.188.166, that networking equipment needs todeliver information.

    FSP Fast-start program

Hardware partner Local entity (LOEMs, distributors) which installs SAPBusiness All-in-One with the Installation Wizard relatedto the fast-start program

Hardware vendor Global contact who provides information about e. g.hardware sizes.

Instance Number The instance number is a two digit number. Eachinstance of the SAP Web AS requires its own instancenumber, and other components such as the enqueueserver, the Central Services for the Web AS Java, theSAP Web Dispatcher, and others.

    SAP BaiO SAP Business All-in-One

SID - System ID The SAP system ID is a triple-digit alphanumeric IDwhich must be unique in a system landscape.

Solution Manager Key This key is needed to go on with theinstallation/upgrade. Without this key, the installationprocess cannot continue. The SolMan Key will be

generated from a Solution Manager System. For thegeneration three components are required: System-ID,System number and Virtual Hostname.

Solution Manager System The SAP Solution Manager is the strategic applicationmanagement platform.

Subnet mask In computer networks that use the Internet Protocol, asubnetwork or subnet is a range of logical addresseswithin the address space that is assigned to anorganization. The address to all nodes in a subnetstarts with the same binary sequence, which is itsnetwork ID and subnet ID. In IPv4, the subnet isidentified by its base address and subnet mask.

System T-Shirt Sizing Configuration of the SAP System in accordance to theserver sizes (S, M, L) which depend on the servercapacity (e. g. memory, CPU). Concerning therespective equipment of the server, the hardware

partner provides the information in detail.Virtual Hostname The system will get installed on a virtual hostname

which provides more flexibility. Virtual hosting is amethod that servers use to host more than one domainname on the same computer, sometimes on the sameIP address.

Virtual Netmask Subnet mask for the virtual IP adress
