ISW previously assessed early after the fall of Mosul that Trebil and Waleed border crossings were under Iraqi tribal control. ISIS has recently attacked Trebil, killing and injuring border guards. It is unclear at this time whether the ISF remained or have withdrawn from Trebil. The attack by ISIS suggests that Trebil is not under the control of Iraqi tribes, and ISW is therefore changing its status to under watch. The border crossing at Waleed, on the Iraqi side, has been reported to be under ISIS control. While these reports may not be true, the fact that its status is under doubt indicates that it is also not likely under the rm control of Iraqi tribes. ISW is therefore also changing the status of Waleed to under watch.
