Marc C. Minno has been interested in butterflies since his childhood in Pennsylvania . He received an undergraduate degree in entomology from Purdue University , and then studied with Art Shapiro at the University of California , Davis , where he received his Master’s degree. For his Ph.D., he worked on

the immature stages of skippers under the direction of Tom Emmel at the University of Florida at Gainesville . Marc has authored and co-authored many scientific and popular articles on butterflies as well as the books Florissant Butterflies: A Guide to the Fossil and Present-Day Species of Central Colorado, Butterflies of the Florida Keys, Florida Butterfly Gardening, Butterflies through Binoculars: Florida, and Florida Butterfly Caterpillars and Their Host Plants. He works as a senior regulatory scientist for the St. Johns River Water Management District in Palatka, namesake of the Palatka Skipper.

Dennis Olle is a corporate lawyer in Miami, Florida with Adorno & Yoss. He is president of the Miami Blue Chapter of NABA and serves on the Board of Directors of the Tropical Audubon Society (Miami). A lifelong birder, he became intrigued with butterflies after a native

plant-identification “walk” at Bahia Honda Key (Florida) in 2001 where he saw Miami Blues. That experience stimulated his interest in the protection of South Florida butterflies. He holds a B.A. degree from Rice University and a J.D. from Columbia University.

Contributors Mike Reese updates the NABA Recent Sightings web pages. He enjoys photographing wild flowers, birds, dragonflies, and, of course, butterflies. He also maintains a website on the Butterflies of Waushara County, Wisconsin.

Pat Wogan is a retired teacher from Kansas who now makes the Rio Grande Valley her home. She and her husband Kert travelled extensively in their motor home full time for several years before discovering this paradise called” The Valley.” Pat earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from Pittsburg State University and taught Elementary School in Altamont, Kansas. Harry Zirlin’s fascination with butterflies and other insects dates to his early childhood. He travels extensively in the United States, studying and photographing butterflies.
