Your quote can also form part of the contract documentation. The contract documentation will give you sufficient information to be able to complete the building works and meet the service delivery requirements. The documents that make up the contract documentation include:  Contract  –  the binding document or agreement between you and the owner to carry out the building work. The type of contract you use will depend on the size and complexity of the project. Read more about which contract you should use  Contract conditions  –  define the legal rights and obligations, or the rules by which each party (you and the owner) must comply  Special contract conditions   –  as the name suggests, special conditions that are an extension of the general conditions and apply specifically to the project  Bill of quantities   –  a list of materials, parts and labour (and their costs) that are included in the contract. The bill of quantities is helpful in valuing variations and assists in the preparation of progress claims  Drawings  –  the architectural and structural plans of the building  Specifications   –  set out the technical requirements of the work. They describe the project and requirements for materials and workmanship, and add clarity to the drawings  Other documents  –  including technical and pricing schedules. It is recommended that both you and the owner endorse complete sets of all contractual documents, and that all documents are kept intact. You must also ensure that all contracts, including related plans, specifications and directions, are kept for seven years from the date the documents were put into writing. Subcontracts If you engage subcontractors for building work in Queensland, you must comply with the Queensland Building Services Authority Act 1991 (for commercial or residential work). A subcontract is an agreement between two parties for an exchange of goods or services. All subcontracts between a contractor and a subcontractor, or a subcontractor and a sub-subcontractor, are required to comply with the Act. The Act requires that all subcontracts must be in writing. Master Builders subcontract documents have been specifically tailored for the building and construction industry. Each contract allocates risk fairly, outlines obligations in detail, and complies with the requirements set out in the Act.  Subcontract Agreement  Period Subcontract Visit the Master Builders eShop to purchase subcontracts online (available to members only) or download the contract order form. You can also visit your local Master Builders office to purchase subcontracts over the counter. Rapid Hardening Cement2. Quick setting cement3. Low Heat Cement4. Sulphates resisting cement5. Blast Furnace Slag Cement6. High Alumina Cement7. White Cement8. Coloured cement9. Pozzolanic Cement10. Air Entraining Cement11. Hydrographic cementTable below shows different types of cement, their composition and uses:Types of CementCompositionPurpose

Rapid Hardening CementIncreased Lime contentAttains high strength in early days it is used inconcretewhere form work are removed at an early stage.

Quick setting cementSmall percentage of aluminium sulphate as an accelerator and reducing percentage of Gypsum with fine grindingUsed in works is to be completed in very short period and concreting in static and running water

Low Heat CementManufactured by reducing tri-calcium aluminateIt is used in massive concreteconstructionlike gravity dams

Sulphates resisting CementIt is prepared by maintaining the percentage of tricalcium aluminate below 6% which increases power against sulphatesIt is used in construction exposed to severe sulphate action by water and soil in places like canals linings, culverts, retaining walls, siphons etc.,

Blast Furnace Slag CementIt is obtained by grinding the clinkers with about 60% slag and resembles more or less in properties of Portland cementIt can used for works economic considerations is predominant.

High Alumina CementIt is obtained by melting mixture of bauxite and lime and grinding with the clinker it is rapid hardening cement with initial and final setting time of about 3.5 and 5 hours respectivelyIt is used in works where concrete is subjected to high temperatures, frost, and acidic action.

White CementIt is prepared from raw materials free from Iron oxide. It is more costly and is used for architectural purposes such as pre-cast curtain wall and facing panels, terrazzo surface etc.,

Coloured cementIt is produced by mixing mineral pigments with ordinary cement. They are widely used for decorative works in floors

Pozzolanic CementIt is prepared by grindin pozzolanic clinker with Portland cementIt is used in marinestructures, sewage works, sewage works and for laying concrete under water such as bridges, piers, dams etc.,

Air Entraining CementIt is produced by adding indigenous air entraining agents such as resins, glues, sodium salts of Sulphates etc during the grinding of clinker. This type of cement is specially suited to improve the workability with smaller water cement ratio and to improve frost resistance of concrete.

Hydrographic cementIt is prepared by mixing water repelling chemicalsThis cement has high workability and strength

Aggregates types and uses. Granite aggregatesGranite aggregates are crushed hard rock of granular structure, being the most common on Earth. Granite rock comes from magma that erupted on the ground surface and then hardened. Good properties of granite make it the most popular building material. In terms of its technical characteristics granite is solid (grades 800-1200) and highly solid (grades 1,400-1,600), frost resistant (grades 300-400), with low flakiness index (5-23%), of the 1st class in terms of radionuclidity (A (eff)
