What are Context Clues?

Words, phrases or other sentences that come before or after an unfamiliar word.

Context is the setting in which a word appears. Think of context as meaning the neighborhood in which a word lives.

You Follow The Clues….. Most writers leave context clues as they write. It is our job as the reader to hunt them down!

Migrate means to move or go to another place.

When Abe Lincoln was a small boy, he wore clothes that were made at home. His woolen socks were knitted by hand. Even the cloth for his shirts was woven at home. Abe’s breeches were made of deerskin. However, it was not good to wear these breeches in the rain. If they got wet, they shrank. Abe had a mark on each leg from breeches that got too tight in the rain!
