Only once a year, on his birthday, did Charlie Bucket ever get to taste a bit of chocolate...Charlie

was presented with one small chocolate bar to eat all for him. ...He would place it carefully in a

small wooden box that he owned, and treasure it as though it were a bar of solid gold; and for the

next few days, he would allow himself only to look at it, but never to touch it. It was all his.

"It must be berries," said the Roly-Poly bird. "They are my favourite food in the world. Or is it

raspberries, perhaps?"

The enormous crocodile laughed so much his teeth rattled together like pennies in a moneybox.

"Crocodiles don't eat berries," he said. "We eat little boys and girls. Sometimes we eat Roly-Poly

birds as well! " Very quickly the crocodile reached up and snapped his jaws at the Roly-Poly bird.

He just missed the bird, but managed to catch hold of one of the long beautiful feathers in his tail.

A crime was committed last night by Amy’s brother. Amy's brother sneaked downstairs and took a

doughnut from out of the fridge. The doughnut belonged to Amy. Amy's brother took a huge bite out

of the doughnut and then put the doughnut back pretending that the doughnut had not been

touched. When Amy found the doughnut this morning, Amy was not surprised. Amy's brother had a

splodge of jam, smeared around his mouth. Amy shrugged her shoulders and then Amy walked away,

with a secret smile. The secret was Amy’s. Little did Amy's brother know, that Amy had let the dog

lick the doughnut before putting the doughnut in the fridge. Amy might tell Amy's brother later.

The Making of the Gingerbread Man

I made you mine. Your name was whisperedsoftly sifted with the flour, ginger.Cut butter slipped like kissesin the mix, and greased my fingers.

Sweet with sugar, syrup, wet with eggI kneaded you. Your dough flesh rolledand gently pressed to shape, your arms and legsoutstretched. I gave you buttons, eyes, a nose.

I scored a thumbnail smile. And smiling backslid you warm inside to bake. Waited.Salivated. Placed you on the rackto cool and turned away. Then you escaped.

Too quick for me, you ran. All I caughtwere taunting words, a blurred and laughing face.Left chewing hard, round biscuits, lost in thoughtI wonder what became of you; your taste.

The Making of the Fish Finger

I made you mine.Your name was whisperedAs I slipped your crackling packet from the freezer.I snipped along the packet edge with silver scissors.I tipped it up and down you tumbledyou and your golden brothers.I carefully arranged you on the tray, like gold bars and encased you in the oven.

I waited. Salivated. Then you escaped.Too quick for me, you ran.Hopping on one golden leg.All I caught were golden giggles.I wonder what became of you: your taste.

The main focus is to write two stanzas, one about the making and one about the escape.

Chn should use pronouns, I, me, you, mine, and aim for other techniques such as

building images through vocabulary choice and word play such as alliteration.

There is no expectation for the lines to rhyme or to have a set number of lines in

each stanza.

The bold lines are taken from the original poem and should provide structure to

support chn.
