During this first semester of forth year, I attend Colegio Lincaray, which is a semi private school located in Chiguayante. It has courses from pre- kinder garden to eighth grade and there is one course for each level. Also, there are around thirty students per class. At present, I assist on Fridays to the sixth graders´ class from 8 am to 9: 30 am and to the fifth graders’ class from 9: 50 to 11:15 am. I started my pre teaching practice around the third week of April. Among the activities that I have usually done in the classroom are to check if the students have brought the homework, to check if they are doing the activities, to explain the contents personally to those who have not understand , to check evaluations, and to try to keep them quite. Moreover, I have planned and done classes twice, one for the fifth grade and one for the sixth grade. Instead, the teacher chooses the books to all levels and they are reevaluated each year. In the case of fifth graders, they use the book called “Kids Web”. When I started attending the school, the fifth graders were working on the unit 2 called “I love math” .In this unit, students learned the names of the subjects, how to make their schedule and the uses of “on” and “at”. When I checked their tests, I observed that it was very easy for them to learn and recognize the names of all the subjects because most of them are quite similar to their Spanish meaning in terms of spelling. However, there were a lot of mistakes when they have to complete sentences using “on” for days and “at” for time. After that, they studied the unit 3 called “Going green” where vocabulary related to recycle were taught. At the end of this unit, I had to make a lesson doing a summary of the whole unit. Firstly, my lesson started showing pictures of how we can save our planet with a short description of it. Then I showed a video of song which tells us what we can do to save the Earth called “Going Green”. After that, I showed sequences of pictures where students have to indicate which of them were

The units of this book are longer than the fifth one. They usually create dialogues where I observed that they have no so much problems related to pronunciation. When they were working on the unit 2 called Families, I started to assist to their school. They were at the unit. Now, they are working in the unit 3 called At home. I have to. I used I power point presentation. At the beginning, I presented prepositions of place as in, on, under, behind, next to, in front of and between giving them an explain with a picture and a sentence. By they understood immediately. After that, I took a box and a toy, and I asked students to come to the whiteboard and perform with the box and the toy the preposition of the sentence given in the power point presentation. The planning of the contents is totally related to the contents of the book. The main reason for that is that the parents tend to complain if the materials brought by them are not used in the classroom. Usually, the lesson starts with the revision of homework. The students usually have as homework a page from their book or from their practice book which has just grammar exercises. At the end of the class, the teacher designates what is going to be the homework for next class.

The teacher starts a unit contextualizing the contents to the students life. After that, students do the activities until complete the whole unit.The teacher tries to repeat in order to acquire a proper pronunciation of the phrase o words studied.In the case of evaluation, I have checked a lot of tests from different courses and I have detected that the teachers focus is rather on vocabulary than grammatical structure. For instance, students usually have more mistakes in those exercise related to grammar or where they have to create a whole sentence using a specific grammatical structure. The tests usually have a listening in the first part, then a reading, complete the sentences with the words given, there have been few cases (two or three) where the teacher have included translations exercises in a test.

During my stay in the schools, I have observed that every classroom has its own radio, computer and data projector. Therefore, teachers do not have problems using all of them the technological devices that the same time. Moreover, the school has a library which students can do activities in groups, use the computers, maps and Students have dictionaries in the classrooms drawers. However, they are usually not used in the classroom because Both books, fifth and sixth grades, have a computer version which is usually projected in the whiteboard when the teacher wants to do a listening activity which is on the ebook.

Since my first day in the school, students and teachers of other subjects have considered me as any another teacher. Students show a lot of respect towards the teacher and me and they obey the instructions given by both of us. On the classrooms walls and on the schools walls in general, there are not writings, so it demonstrates that the students take care of and respect the environment where they study. Inside the classroom, students have a very good response towards the English language. Most of them demonstrate dominance at their level. There are some exceptional cases where some students seem that they want to get the attention of other classmates by laughing aloud or asking a question, but this does not irrupt the regular pace of the class. This semester, I consider it one of because I am able to
