1. Development Process
Problem Resolution Proposal from an NPDP
【 Proposal Contents 】 The request was to have a more flexible moisture control tubing.
When used with chucks or cylinders that operate with linear or swinging motions, the minimum bending radius of the moisture control tubing would be too small and would break (buckling).
Unfortunately, due to the nature of the material being used, improving the flexibility is not possible at this time.
【 Improvement Method 】 In order to avoid breaking (buckling) of the tube, we created a
version with the tube in a coiled configuration and have also offered another variation with a shorter overall length.

2 . Development Goals ① The original IDK lacked flexibility and therefore could not be
attached to areas with linear or swinging motions
⇒We are now offering the IDK in a compact and coiled configuration so that it can be attached to chucks or other actuators where space is limited. The linear or swinging motion portion can then utilize a more flexible tube attached to the coiled IDK tube.
This relationship differs from the relationship between the poly-urethane (TU) and the poly-urethane coiled (TCU) tubing.
Please note that the IDK04-100-C coiled tubing cannot be directly used with linear or swinging motions. The reason the IDK is being now offered in a coiled configuration so that it may be used in more compact spaces and be able to prevent bending of the tubing itself.

Flexible polyurethane tube for the parts that make a linear or swinging motion, and IDK04-100-C1 for the gripper or cylinder part. This prevents bending of the tubes.
Linear or swinging motion of the cylinder or gripper causes bending of the Moisture Control Tube which has a small bending radius.

The new IDK has the same specifications but with a new coil configuration which will allow direct connection to actuators.
Do not use IDK tubing where the attached parts may exert a linear or swinging motion on the tubing itself.
The tubing attached to the IDK tubing should be flexible enough to withstand this motion.
This portion tube is not the IDK tubing. This other tubing should be able to withstand the linear or swinging motion.
Affix the IDK tubing directly to the gripper.

3. Application Examples
Utilize general purpose tubing where sliding or swinging motions are required. Avoid using the stiff IDK tubing where it might have this motion directly exerted upon it.

*1 Use the product in an operating environment where humidity is as low as possible.

Note 1) Use the Moisture Control Tube in a compressed air line with a refrigerated air dryer and a mist separator installed on the upstream side. The dew condensation prevention performance may be reduced depending on the quality of the compressed air supply (oil, dew point).
Note 2) The inner sleeve has been mounted to the Moisture Control Tube and cannot be removed. If the inner sleeve comes off, re- insert the sleeve before mounting the fitting.
Note 3) Do NOT cut the Moisture Control Tube.

8. Comparison with Competitors
There are no competitors for moisture control tubing inside or outside of Japan.
* The conventional method used for dew condensation uses membrane dryers or adsorption type dryers to lower the dew point of the supply air.

10. Precautions
It is not possible to stretch the compact style moisture control tubing.
Please affix the tubing directly to the actuator.
