http://www.elem.teninoschools.org 2014 Conferences & Book Fair November 3-7 My job is to find a way to create educational success. That means, if I encounter barriers, I will find solutions to get the school where it needs to be. As the educational leader of the building, I have implemented a variety changes designed to achieve unprecedented academic success for each and every student at TES. The building School Improvement Plan (SIP) primarily targets math and reading growth for all students. The staff has set a schoolwide goal of a 24point improvement in MAP scores for each student by next spring. I give my professional and personal commitment to do whatever it takes to orchestrate the achievement of the goals stated in the SIP! I have connected with a local principal in a nearby district who has turned around a similar school and is providing guidance. Here is an organizational overview of my plan for continuous improvement, influenced by a book I am currently reading called No Excuses University, by Damen Lopez: 1) COACH: SUPPORT THE WORK OF MRS. AGNEW, THE BUILDING ACADEMIC COACH/INTERVENTIONIST. SHE HAS A DECADE OF EXPERIENCE LEADING AWARD-WINNING CHANGES IN OTHER DISTRICTS AND IS PROVIDING ON-GOING DAILY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR STAFF IN BEST PRACTICES. 2) COLLABORATION: I HAVE ORGANIZED OPPORTUNITIES FOR STAFF COLLABORATION AND TEAMING TO FOCUS ON NEW, BETTER, DATA-DRIVEN WAYS TO IMPACT STUDENT LEARNING. 3) STANDARDS: WE ARE DISCOVERING AND IMPLEMENTING NEW, BETTER STRATEGIES FOR STANDARDS ALIGNMENT. 4) ASSESSMENTS: TEACHERS ARE USING MAP DATA TO FIND THE STRENGTHS AND AREAS OF NEED TO DRIVE INSTRUCTION FOR THE INDIVIDUAL STUDENT. 5) DATA MANAGEMENT: DATA IS THE LANGUAGE BEING USED TO EVALUATE OUR GROWTH AND IS HOW WE COMMUNICATE WITH PRECISION AND CLARITY. 6) INTERVENTIONS: AS A STAFF, WE LOOK AT DATA AND SAY “IF THIS DATA THEN THIS INTERVENTION. Driving structural changes are part of my plan for this year. I assure you that they are always viewed through the lens of “What is best for student success and meeting the ambitious goals we have set?” I am putting our children’s education first and foremost. I ask parents to continue to support me as I make program changes and adjust as necessary. David Ford Principal

Mrs. Scheuffele’s resource room students harvested 30 pounds of potatoes and had a potato feed for their families. They made a graph to show which method of preparing them was their favorite. It was a tie between French Fried and Mashed Potatoes. &Thanks to all the Tiger students who helped to plant and weed them last spring!

We will also be harvesting more tomatoes and the pumpkins. They will be on display in the resource room window. Come by and vote for your favorite type.

TIME TO CLEAN OUT YOUR CLOSETS

Our student Holiday Store is scheduled for December. The store is open for students to purchase gifts for the whole family in the price range of $0.50 to $3.00.

The proceeds are donated to a community need of student choice.
