Preparations are in high gear for the Caribbean Shipping Association (CSA)’s 18th Caribbean Shipping Executives Conference (CSEC) which is scheduled to take place in the vibrant cultural mecca of Kingston. Up to 300 delegates including shipping and business magnates, policy makers, government officials and executives from other trade and logistics related fields are expected to converge at the Pegasus Hotel over two days from May 20- 21, 2019 for the conference. The forum will explore the impact of increasing “digitization” - the process of changing from analog to digital forms - and the corresponding “digitalization”-the use of digital technologies to change business models and provide new revenue and value-producing opportunities. Max J. Bobys has over 25 years of

experience with technology startups,

enterprise risk management, new

in the maritime security space.

He is the Vice President of Global

firm.  He currently leads the

company’s cyber risk management

led the design and is currently leading

He has supported a wide range of

branches of the U.S. Department of

Defense, NATO, and numerous

allied governments in Europe, Latin

America and the Caribbean. 

He has spoken widely on the subject of maritime cybersecurity throughout the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia. He currently advises the Organization of American States’ Inter-American Committee on Ports on matters of maritime cyber risk management, is the co-founder of the Maritime Technology Society’s Maritime Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Committee, and serves on the Delaware Bay Area Maritime Security Committee’s Sub-Committee on Cybersecurity.

Karina Kure GhisaysHEAD OF HUMAN RESOURCESGRUPO PUERTO DE CARTAGENA

Karina is currently the Head of Human

Resources for all firms within the

Grupo Puerto de Cartagena’s

portfolio, including its two flagship

companies, Sociedad Portuaria

Regional de Cartagena S.A. (SPRC)

and Contecar S.A. (CTC). Her position

entails leading all aspects of the

corporate strategy pertaining to

human capital, in such a way that

directly and positively impacts the

advancement of the organization’s

objectives. Furthermore, she is in

charge of executing alignment

processes and strategy

implementation, evaluation

programs, managing cultural

strengthening, organizational learning

activities, designing and

implementing strategies related to

talent development, career planning

and organizational sustainability.

Her role in Grupo Puerto de

Cartagena S.A. dates back to 1998,

when she first joined the

organization as SPRC´s Head of the

Treasury Department.  Formerly,

she occupied financial and

administrative management

positions in recognized banks and

important financial institutions in

Colombia. 

In 1999, she became the Head of

the Human Resources Department

for the company; later on in 2007,

she went on to occupy the Head of

Human Resources position. Since

2009, she has been serving as the

Human Resources Director for the

entire group.

She holds a Business degree from

the Universidad de los Andes

(Bogotá) and graduate degrees in

Finance and Human Resources; she

is also certified in several programs

related to human development.

Scott Laqueux is the Director of

Waterfront Planning for Moffatt &

Nichol, a global infrastructure

advisory firm delivering practical

development markets.

With more than 23 years as a planner,

designer and advisor, he has led a

broad spectrum of project

engagements, from small-scale

market analysis and strategic

planning initiatives to spearheading

multi-disciplinary design and

engineering teams involved in large

scale port and waterfront

transformations.

His work has taken him to

engagements throughout the US

and over 80 countries, with

authorities and communities to the

One area of specialization is

resiliency planning. His work looks

at how best waterfronts, 

transportation  infrastructure  and 

communities  can  adapt  to

physical, social and economic

shocks and stresses.  He is involved

in several ongoing assignments in

the Caribbean and across the globe

looking a practical  approaches  for 

retrofitting  waterfronts and

transportation infrastructure to be

readied for the varied challenges

and opportunities of the next

several decades.

Scott Lagueux holds a master’s

degree in Urban and Regional

Planning as well as bachelor’s

degrees in Business Finance and

Real Estate from the University of

Florida. He is an accredited

professional with the American

Institute of Certified Planners

(AICP) and the U.S. Green Building

Council’s LEED program.

Chris is a sustainability and clean

energy expert, eco-entrepreneur, and

community organizer with a passion

to create smart, resilient, and

sustainable cities. He is currently the

Senior Advisor to Orlando Mayor

Buddy Dyer, Director of Sustainability

& Resilience, and Co-chair of Smart

Cities for the City of Orlando,

developing policies & programs to

advance the sustainability, clean

energy, & climate action goals of

Mayor Dyer.

Chris is best known as the founder

and president of IDEAS For Us, a

global UN-accredited non-profit

orking to incubate and fund

innovative solutions that advance the

UN Sustainable Development Goals. In

2012, Chris started a clean-energy

consulting firm called Citizen Energy,

and 2013 co-created "Fleet Farming",

a renowned urban farming social

enterprise that is redefining local food

systems by building organic farms

on homeowner lawns through

neighbourhood sand communities.

Chris currently sits on more than 10

non-profit and academic boards,

including the Florida Solar Energy

Center, US Green Building Council

of Florida, Project Green schools,

and Goodwill of Central Florida. He

has held positions with University

of Central Florida, Orange County

Govt., and the U.S. Department of

Energy.

Over the years, Chris has been

internationally recognized for his

efforts; including being named the

2018 Public Official of the Year by

Governing, a ‘Champions of

Change' by President Barack

Obama, the 'Guru of Green' by the

Orlando Business Journal, the Grist

50 Fixer Award, Top 30 Under 30

sustainability professionals by

In December 2018, Chris was highlighted in the National Geographic documentary called "Paris to Pittsburgh". As a thought leader, Chris has spoken at more than 150+ conferences and events, including the United Nations Summits, Smart Cities Week DC, NASA Innovation Expo, Sustainatopia, TEDx Orlando, and more.

ABOUT THE CSA

The CSA, the voice of the Caribbean shipping industry, was established in 1971 to facilitate development of an

efficient, viable Caribbean shipping industry.

Conferences hosted by the CSA provide a forum in which matters relevant to the growth and development of

Caribbean shipping are discussed.
