    Technique to represent knowledge in graphs.

    It is a diagram to depict suggested

    relationships between concepts.

    It is a graphical tool designers, engineers use to

    organize and structure knowledge

    Developed by Joseph D. Novak at Cornell

    University in the 1970s

    Cause a picture to form in your mind

    e.g. Dog, Tree, Stone

    Are represented in differentlanguages by words/terms

    Words are labels for concepts

    Are based on your prior experience

    and knowledge

    Linking Words

    Connect concepts to form propositions

    Propositions are statements (not necessarily

    complete sentences) that make sense

    e.g., Thedog is playing.

    Concept Map Structures

    Hierarchical

    You can structure your map hierarchically by placing

    the most inclusive, most general concept(s) at the

    top and less important concepts at the bottom(Figure 1).

    Non-Hierarchical

    You may also create a non-hierarchical network. In

    this case, there is no super ordinate concept; the

    map is structured like a web (Figure 2)
