Structure1. Competition is an instinct that controls our

behavior in many parts of our daily lives.

2. As soon as a win seems guaranteed , our brains stimulate the production of chemicals which give our bodies a rush of energy and pleasure. It’s the pleasant effects of these chemicals that drive us to keep competing and trying to win.

Page 3: Competing from Your Birth to the Grave

3. Most of people can still remember small failures even though they may have happened a long time ago. That is because our brains often remind us of the pain of failure to help us avoid making the same mistakes again.

4. Competition can even start before birth. When it is almost time for a baby to be born, the baby will begin competing with its mother.

Page 4: Competing from Your Birth to the Grave

5. Soon after birth, siblings begin competing. These early instincts can effect one’s personality later in life.

6. After millions of years of evolution’ our instincts still influence how we think and act. Our brains have trained us to be winners. That is what continues to drive us to improve ourselves and our world.

Page 16: Competing from Your Birth to the Grave

There are no words To paint a picture of you, girl Your eyes, those curves It's like you're from some other world You walk my way Oh God, it's so frustrating So while I disappear when you come near It makes me feel so small while I blow my lines Most every time, like I got no chance at all If I could be a superman I'd fly you to the stars and back again 'Cause every time you touch my hand And feel my powers running through your veins But I can only write this song And tell you that I'm not that strong 'Cause I'm no superman I hope you like me as I am

Page 17: Competing from Your Birth to the Grave

It ain't no lie I have to tell you how I feel Each time I try It gets a little more unreal You walk my way Oh God, it's so frustrating so while I disappear When you come near, it makes me feel so small If I could reach your mind Girl, would I find any trace of me at all If I could be a superman I'd fly you to the stars and back again 'Cause every time you touch my hand And feel my powers running through your veins

Page 18: Competing from Your Birth to the Grave

But I can only write this song And tell you that I'm not that strong 'Cause I'm no superman I hope you like me as I am If I could be a superman I'd fly you to the stars and back again 'Cause every time you touch my hand And feel my powers running through your veins But I can only write this song And tell you that I'm not that strong 'Cause I'm no superman I hope you like me as I am
