The Coax cable

• The ubiquitous coaxial cable in the households has superior performance for data transmission.

• It has been used in data transmission for years and is a better medium then even the most modern of twisted pair cablings including CAT 7

• This is the reason why signals that require great care have always been distributed over coax (TV, satellite…)

• This superior technology has been largely overlooked for the last years.• It is however capable to deliver high speed data for peanuts compared

to installing new cabling.

Ethernet over Coax• The superior quality of the coax cable, the veins of

the CATV network, allows us to set up an Ethernet network over the legacy coaxial in home cabling, sending bidirectional data and delivering existing services to the different rooms in the house.

• Applications:– Every TV outlet becomes a "PC"-outlet;– Interactive services to set top boxes can be provided over

IP via a centralised modem;– IP STB's can be rolled-out using the existing coax cable.
