Since 1959...
PROTESA is a Spanish company which was founded in1959 with the aim of researching, designing, producing,marketing and installing GRP (Glass Fiber ReinforcedPolyester) pipes and fittings.
PROTESA was a pioneer in the production of GRP pipesin Spain and was the first company in the sector toexport to some of the most demanding countries interms of quality and ser vice, such as Germany, the USA,Canada and Australia, amongst others.

Over the course of its history, PROTESA has acquiredgreat experience in the GRP market, which has enabledthe Company to reach a leading position within thesector, providing a high-quality product and the mostadvanced services.
Today, PROTESA works throughout the world, carryingout projects in Australia, Chile, Algeria, Morocco,Panama, the UK, France, Switzerland, etc.
Furthermore, the company has a network ofinternational agents in Germany, France, theNetherlands, Italy, Bulgaria, the UK, Switzerland, theCzech Republic, Portugal, Australia, etc.
PROTESAs team is made up of 250 highly qualified professionals and is the Companysmain asset as regards its contribution to the success of a project. One of PROTESAs maincommitments is therefore to the continuous training of its team.
PROTESA has 50 engineers within the departments of Engineering, Quality Control, Production,Drafting and Detailed Design, RD&I, Project Management and Sales. The Companys technicaland organizational capacities are based on its highly qualified human resources, whoseaverage age allows for a combination of experience, efficiency and versatility.
The Team
PROTESAs facilities include a factory in Barcelona (SantEsteve Sesrovires), a factory in Zaragoza (Ejea de losCaballeros), a sales office in Shanghai and a productioncenter in India, located in the town of Chakan, in thedistrict of Pune, Maharashtra (160 km from Mumbai).
Between them, the sites cover a total surface area of77,500 m2.

When designing a hydraulic installation, it is essential to define the best type of joint system to meet the requirementsof the project in question.
With that in mind, PROTESA offers a wide range of joint systems for its GRP pipes, all of which are completely watertightand, at the least, equally as capable of withstanding the forces derived from the PN (nominal pressure) of theinstallation as the sections of piping that they are designed to join.

The Bell & Spigot joint comes with two EPDM O-rings and includes acheck valve, by means of which the cavity between the two O-ringsis pressurized, enabling the watertightness of the joint to be checkedquickly and easily, on site, pipe by pipe, once each joint has beenassembled and before moving on to the next one. The correct assemblyof each joint can thus be confirmed, guaranteeing the success of thesubsequent hydraulic pressure test.

PROTESA continues to work with the same initial desire to provideinnovative, scientific answers to all i ssues relating to its GRP pipes,which, due to their manufacturing process, are technically quitedifferent from the rest of the pipes available on the market.
PROTESAs GRP pipes are manufactured by means of the CrossedFilament Winding process, which consists of creating layers ofglass fiber (direct roving) and thermosetting resin. Once thecomposite has polymerized and the work on the pipe itself isfinished, the mold is extracted, leaving the pipe to be machinedas necessary.
PROTESA has 3 production lines with the capacity to supply largequantities of various different diameters of piping at the sametime.
Crossed Filament Winding
Glass Fiber Reinforced Polyester (GRP) isa material made up of different types of
polyester resin (as a binder or matrix) and aglass fiber reinforcement.
The resulting product has great mechanicalproperties, even at high temperatures, andis lightweight, with great chemical corrosionresistance. The resin can also be easilyadditivated with other components, in orderto modify the mechanical, electrical orchemical properties.
