Book Suggestion: “Making Friends” by Fred Rogers

Behavior Tips for Surviving the Holidays When hosting holiday parties at your house, try

to pre-plan some activities for the kids to do like decorating a big box to make a gingerbread house that they can play in when they are finished. Structured and organized activities leaves less time for chaos and fighting.

Try to keep routines like naps, bedtime, mealtime, etc. as consistent as possible.

Talk with your children about behavior expectations prior to attending holiday events. Remind them periodically of those expectations and praise them when they are following the rules.

Know when your child has “had enough” and take them home before they have a behavior meltdown rather than dealing with the tantrum after the fact.
