Our annual Dr. & Dr. of Pharmacy Pageant was a success as we raised money for St. Jude and Reach out and Read. Our event just happened yesterday, so we are still in the works of tallying up how much we

raised. We had two of our brothers participate as contestants! We have Allan (P3) and Hunter (P1). Hunter won the category of crowd favorite!

Dr. Schwier has participated in several of our events, including the Dr. & Dr.of Pharmacy Pageant. He's been a judge for two years in a row. Even with his busy schedule, he makes time to helps students succeed. For example, he made our event successful for being a judge. He has participated in several CV workshops to help students prepare for their future. Every time he sees students in the hallway, he always has a smile on his face and greets the students. Despite our large class sizes, he makes the effort to learn the students' names to develop a more personal relationship. He was voted as the 2017 Honorary PLS member, and during his address, he advised the students to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. He sees that every students can grow and excel, and that's what makes him special.

GAMMA ETA ALUMNI TALKS

Graduting P4 Dinner and Q&A with Alumni Brother Delilah Blanco!

The PDC Bros loved Bingo Night! Huge

success!

Chephra Mckee has been a Phi Delta Chi brother since 2007 and has been the sole Gamma Eta advisor for 4.5 years. She has undoubtedly shown support for our chapter by continuously showing up and encouraging our members to reach for their

full potentials. Chephra not only strengthens us as a chapter, but she thrives in her profession, as a Phi Delta Chi brother,

and a friend.

Chephra always strives to attend our monthly meetings and assists in any possible way that she can. She checks in with officers often to make sure that they aren’t in need of a helping hand. She always encourages open communication

within the chapter, which create a stronger bond and a closer community. She has been awarded the Faculty of the Month by the Gamma Eta chapter in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2018.

GAMMA ETA FACULTY SPOTLIGHT: DR. CHEPHRA MCKEE

Dr. Mckee is more than just a mentor to us. She is a person we can always count on for a smile and piece of encouragement, she is a friend, and she challenges us to

become better versions of ourselves. Dr. Mckee and I had the opportunity to travel on a global health trip to Peru in September of this year. The trip would not have been possible without Dr. Mckee’s diligence. We had many obstacles to overcome in

the process and she faced each of them with optimism and never lost faith. The trip was one of the greatest parts of not only my pharmacy education, but my life, and it would not have been possible without Dr. Mckee. Dr. Mckee’s impact on our chapter is

evident. Her cheerful spirit is contagious in each of our members, how we interact with one another and the culture we have created. Her creativity is seen in each of our committees and how we continue to mold and create new opportunities for our

brothers. And her devotion to her students is reflected in how each of our brothers truly cares for one another. We unbelievably lucky to have Dr. Chephra Mckee on our

team. We wouldn’t be what we as a chapter or as people without her. - Nicole Buzzard

My favorite thing about Dr. McKee is her love of pharmacy, PDC, and the Gamma Eta chapter.

GAMMA ETA FACULTY SPOTLIGHT: DR. CHEPHRA MCKEE

Chephra is deeply engrained in the Gamma Eta Chapter, but her love for PDC does not stop in Abilene, Texas. She has encouraged Gamma Eta brothers that have transferred to our

satellite campus in Dallas, Texas to create a new chapter and grow our organization to cover even more of the metroplex. She has been working with brothers Kathleen Lee and Paige

Reid to gather all the necessary paper work and requirements that are needed to create a new charter. Chephra represents Phi Delta Chi on a national level as the Project Director of Regional Conferences and is a member of the AAP Review committee and the ChEQ program.

Chephra has been the driving force of creating a new international APPE rotation to Puru at TTUHSC SOP. This experience gives students exposure to other cultures and systems of

health care, which will strengthen their ability to learn and work in brand new environments and show compassion for all types of patients. This past September, Chephra and a fourth

year Gamma Eta brother, Nicole Buzzard, set out to assist with the medical needs in Huancayo, La Merced, and Lima, Puru. Chephra also facilitated a breakout session at the

TTUHSC SOP annual leadership retreat with Beta Rho brother, Adam Olsen, on Empowering Others. They talked incredibly about the gift of empowerment that we can give to others,

while simultaneously empowering ourselves.

Chephra brings her passion for academia and leadership together by serving on our university’s International Affairs Council, “Our HSC” fundraising committee, and standing as the faculty campus liaison for the Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children.

Chephra has thrived in moving the profession of pharmacy forward by completing a pharmacy residency program at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia. She

has thrived to be a leader in our profession by becoming a board-certified pediatric pharmacy specialist, and now uses her expertise as the clinical pharmacist at Hendrick

Children’s Hospital and Cook Children’s Specialty Clinic. Chephra has numerous peer reviewed book chapters, manuscripts, and abstracts, along with many national and international

presentations.

All in all, Chephra has been a great friend to all those fortunate enough to know her. She has supported her PDC brothers through the best and the roughest times, through health

and sickness, and continues to be the person we look to in all stages of our success. -Athena Brindle
