Email is the easiest way for me to communicate with you, and I will make every effort to address your questions or concerns within 24 hours. Also, I use the Remind text messaging system to provide updates on assignments and project due times. If you want access to my reminder system, please email me, and I will send you the setup instructions so that you receive the same updates as your student. Course Content Students will test and apply theories of computer science, including data models, logic, and algorithms that will provide a foundation for computer programming. Students will experience a variety of computer programming platforms such as web design (HTML), game design and Java (block coding) that will integrate computational thinking and the problem solving process. Course Goals Students develop and employ strategies for understanding and solving problems in ways that leverage the power of technological methods to develop and test solutions. Students will analyze how computational thinking and computer programing can be used as tools for problem solving. Logically organizing and analyzing data; Breaking large problems into smaller sub-problems that can be solved independently, leading to a solution to the larger, more-complicated problem. Automating solutions through a series of ordered steps. Course Units The Design Process Problem Solving & Computer Logic The Internet & Web Development Programming and Interactive Games & Animations Game Design Persuasive Message - Podcasting & Video Blogging Screencasting Electronic Portfolio - Web Design
