8-/11-pole plug-in time delay relay systemThe simplest time delay relay system world-wide,fitting all 8 or 11-pin relay sockets (octal/sub-magnalite).Original time cubes® are simply placed betweensocket and relay without rewiring. In this way, even as a retrofit, all industrial relayscan be provided with the required timing func-tions without additional space being required.The contact connections of the relay on the sock-et remain through-connected.

The time delay relays and monitoring relaysconsist of the plug-in CT electronic module andan 11-pole CT output relay. Both system compo-nents can be combined freely with one another.This allows the equipment to be optimally select-ed for specific use. Subsequent modifications, for example a changefrom mechanical contacts to solid-state outputs,are possible at any time by simple reconnection. This provides the user with a complete, universalsystem, whose high flexibility is unique through-out the world.

As a particular and common characteristic thecomat light control devices/staircase lightingtimers of the series AL2, AL3, AL4 and AL5 havea twin-contact output with one side of the doublecontact made of tungsten.

A tungsten contact with its extremly high meltingpoint can conduct exceptionally high currents,i.e. up to 600A until, in the case of short-circuitthe fuse connected in series triggers. Or up to120A for 20 ms, as can appear when switchingcompensated fluorescent lamps or other gasdischarge lamps. With this characteristic awelding of contacts can be reliably prevented.

The devices in the AL4 and AL5 series are madefor central control of switching functions and canalso be used for the operation with extra-low vol-tages:

The professional solution for installations inschools, homes, authorities, industrial environ-ments connected to a control central or tovarious illuminated push buttons (LED or glowlamps) up to 40mA.

History

Since Comat AG initially was founded in a small garage till the present day there hasbeen an almost endless number of significant dates. That is why we are here merelylisting only the milestones in the company’s history:

1970 Founding of Comat by Kurt Wanzeck as a joint stock company.

1975 Co-operation with Releco in Spain. Comat begins distributing branded«Comat industrial relays» in Switzerland. At the same time commercialproducts made by internationally renowned manufacturers complementComat’s product portfolio.

1979 Inauguration of the company’s premises at Bernstrasse 4 in Worb, Switzerland.

1980 Pioneering work on the introduction of SMD (surface mounted device)technology. Construction of its own soldering machine for SMD compo-nent assembly.

1984 Comat develops and sells the legendary CNP miniature control unit,precursor of the miniature control equipment normally used today.

1984 Introduction of the «Time Cube®» developed by Comat, which in the fol-lowing years turns out to be a best-seller on the world market.

1987 Due to lack of space the company’s premises are enlarged with a newbuilding.

1988 & 89 IF International Design award at the international Industrial Exhibition inHannover.

1989 Additionally to time-delay relays Comat starts development and produc-tion of high-quality monitoring equipment.

1994 Commissioning of the automatic testing system for Comat’s semi-finishedand finished products.

1996 Comat receives the SCS (Swiss Calibration Service) 072 accreditationfor the new, in-house, SCS 072 calibrating laboratory for pressure andelectrical ranges.

1996 A Quality Management System, certified in accordance with ISO norm9001, is introduced for the whole company.

1997 Takeover of EDL Marketing in England and change of name to «EDLComat»

2002 After more than three decades of successful business activity Mr. Wan-zeck sells the company to the Management.

2003 Introduction of the mini controller Comat BoxX

2003 Introduction of the mini contactors SOC-6

2005 Comat opens their own branch office in China.

2006 Market launch of the Comat SMS Relay.

2006 Comat takes over RELECO S.A. in Madrid.
