First off, some bad news. Bythe time you receive this, youwill probably already knowthat we have had to cancel

the first Club Race of the year at RPM. This was due toa lack of Entrants, and also a lack of Workers. Obviously,without Entrants, there isn’t much point in holding theRace. But we also cannot hold the Race withoutsufficient Workers, particularly Corner Workers. If wecan’t sufficiently man the corner stations, we can notsafely hold the Race.

With that said, I will once again make a plea for Workersfor the Majors Race out at MPH on July 22-23. We shouldbe good on Entrants for that event, but we will stillneed all the Workers we can get. Especially CornerWorkers! These are the Flagging and Communications(F&C) people. These are the people who wave the flagsto let the Drivers know what may be happening aheadof them on the track, and the people who communicatewith the control tower to notify, or be notified, of apotential on track issue that could affect the Drivers.So these folks have a very important role on raceweekend. If you have any interest in Club Racing at all,this is a great opportunity to get up close and personalwith the action. You can not get closer to the actionthan working a corner station. It isn’t hard work. Youget to hang out with fellow racing addicts, and seesome great racing from the front row. We even feedyou lunch both days, and have a worker party with food

and drink on Saturday night. If you can work both days,or just one, it will be greatly appreciated by all of theracers. Most of the racers even have ‘Thank YouWorkers’ on the back of their cars. Because they knowthat without the workers, they wouldn’t be out thereracing. So please, if you have any interest what so ever,volunteer and give it a try.

And Racers, if each of you brought a worker along,that would also help greatly with our worker numbers.

Spring Nationals turned out to be a great weekend offun, friends, and competition! There was the Pro Soloon Friday and Saturday. And the Championship Touron Sunday and Monday. I was signed up to run bothevents, but only got to run the first session of the ProSolo due to a mechanical issue. These things happen,and the car will be easily fixed. I can tell you though,even with the limited running I got to do in the Pro, Iwill run another. It is a great format. Once you startmaking your runs, you make 4 runs back to back toback. No real pausing. I think I had made all 4 of myruns in under 10 minutes! So you need to have yourtire pressures close to start, and it is useful to have ahelper there to check them for you quickly betweenruns. Because you don’t have time to get out of thecar yourself. However, this format will also point outany weakness in your car, such as overheating issuesand the like. A normal Heat at a Tour or Nationals seemsextremely laid back compared to this. It is a greatadrenaline rush!

We will be holding a Tire Rack Street Survival courseon July 8. These are great training classes for newlylicensed or permitted drivers, ages 15 to 21. I haveinstructed at several of these, and it is fun to watchthe students progress throughout the day, and leave

Also remember, if your partner in crime is getting boredjust sitting there watching, but they don’t want to drive,we can certainly put them to work in any number ofplaces. Timing, where it’s air conditioned. Or even atthe gate with the waivers. There are numerous placesthey can help out if they wish.

And, if you want to entice these folks to try being adriver, the best way to lure them in is by giving themrides. Bring them out to a Solo or Rallycross, put ahelmet on them, and put them in your passenger seat,or someone else’s. Once they get a ride, and see thewide variety of cars that can and do compete, they willwant to try it themselves. And we will have hookedanother one!

A motion was made to make the next Rallycrossan Activities points event since the RPM race eventwas canceled. Steve second. All for.

Solo: Anthony Jackson.Anthony said our first Solo was a record turnout.June 11 is next the Solo.

Rallycross: Mike LoveJoy (not present).In July the Rallycross ‘Baxter Subaru’ will have atrailer there.

Club Racing: Candy Gerber, Kevin McEnhillKevin said the RPM club racing was canceled dueto low entries.

MPH is a Majors race, July 22-23, hoping for thebest.

National Events: Mark WalkerMark said Spring Nationals went well. There will be

a Street Survival event in July. Will need moreinstructors.

Registration now open for Street Survival school.
