most steel mills. To make the sails still more rigid we connect each sail, near themiddle of it length, with the sail on each side of it, by means of bolts. The sails areof He.t cIJ rolled Steel, and are f such size as to give us more wind surface thanis found in any other mill of which we have know ledge. The sails are set at just theright angle and curved to give the maximum power.

Most careful attention is given to the construction of theTHE rudder, making it firm, strong and thoroughly

braced. The arms of the rudder are made of the best tireRUDDER. spring steel, w hich is better than, angle or channel steel or

gas ripe. Our truss rod brace will pres ent the rudder fromwarping or swaying around against the wheel.

The governing device has made the Perkins mill veryTHE popular, and has been acknowledged by competitors to

be the best, and w ould doubtless be used by all f them butREGULATION. for the expense of making the change. By our adjustment

of the rudder w e place the wheel square to the wind w hile atwork and edgewise to the wind when at rest. The same long and short steel hinges..re ued to raise the rudder when mill is out of gear or at rest. This plan has provedso satisfactory that eleven companies have adopted it since our patents expired.

The main casting of this mill has been carefully de- -

made and ready to bolt on tow er. It is safe and far preferable to the short stepson corner posts ued on most tow ers. The anchor post is five feet long, of goodheavy angle steel, and a base eight to thirteen inches in diameter, according to the sizeof mill and height of tow er, is cast on the end of same, serving the double purpose of asupport under foot of tower and an anchor. Just at the top of ground we fasten a pieceof 4x4 inch oak in angle of corner posts, letting it run dow n about two feet, to give itnvre sie in the ground. The arrangement of the bands and braces is such thatthey support the corner posts at three different points, where other towershave but a single support, thus making our tower three times as secure againstbuckling in extremely strong winds. Tin's plan was originated by us and is fullyprotected by patents.

I will live. hven then. when deathwas so near and he was far from hiswife and children, to him there wasa consolation in the fact that a por-

Sir. Yatman told of the call hereceived from God to leave mer-cantile pursuit- - and enter the min-istry. He was the only ministerin the family and it was prettyhard for anyone to realise that itwas true. He applied for a licenseto preach and it was denied him.He coaxed until finally they toldhim to "p off somewhere in thecountry and try it ; if he was suc-ces-f- ul

the first time they wouldissue a license." The speaker thendescribed his experience, in thepulpit and hi- - emharra-sme- nt

when the wind blew his notesaway and at his loss for somethingto -- ay. He finally gathered him-self together and told his hearersthat "the Gospel of Christ meantthirty-si- x inches to the yard, twelve inches to the foot andfour pint- - t the quart.'1His con irrei:at ion heiran laugh-ing at him and he wondered, fearful of what he had done : thenhe repeated to himself what he hadsaid until he did not know whetherthere were two or four pints to thequart, hut he made a bluff at itand. looking at his hearers, saidagain: "That's what the liihlemeans, friends : four pints to thequart.'' That afternoon there wasanother meeting, hut it was quiteunsatisfactory, until one prim oldlady got up ami. clapping herhands, said : u Its all right, its allright ; there's four pints to a quart :
