From the light blue print fat quarter, cut: 24 squares, 2" x 2"; cut each square in half diagonally once to yield 48 triangles From the assorted print chubby sixteenths, cut a combined total of: 24 squares, 2" x 2"; cut each square in half diagonally once to yield a total of 48 triangles 12 squares, 2" x 2" 96 squares, 1" x 1" From the assorted neutral print chubby sixteenths, cut a combined total of: 96 squares, 1" x 1" From the dark blue print fat quarter, cut: Enough 2"-wide strips to make a 94" length of binding when joined end to end PIECING THE BLOCKS Sew all pieces with right sides together using a " seam allowance unless otherwise noted. Select a light blue print and an assorted print 2" triangle. Join the pair along the long diagonal edges. Press the seam allowances toward the light blue print. Trim away the dog-ear points. Repeat for a total of 48 pieced half-square-triangle units measuring 2" square, including the seam allowances.

EXTRA SNIPPET When stitching the smaller-scale patchwork pieces called for in this project, be sure to reduce your stitch size slightly to achieve more stitches to the inch. This will ensure the seams of your joined pieces remain secure from edge to edge.

Join an assorted print 11/2" square to an assorted neutral print 11/2" square. Press the seam allowances toward the assorted print. Repeat for a total of 96 joined pairs.

Join two pairs from step 2 as shown to form a four-patch unit. Press the seam allowances to one side. Repeat for a total of 48 pieced four-patch units measuring 21/2" square, including the seam allowances.

Note: Take care to piece all of your four-patch units with the neutral and assorted prints positioned identically.

Lay out four pieced half-square-triangle units from step 1, four pieced four-patch units from step 3, and one assorted print 21/2" square in three horizontal rows as shown. Join the pieces in each row. Press the seam allowances toward the four-patch units. Join the rows. Press the seam allowances toward the middle row. Repeat for a total of 12 pieced blocks measuring 61/2" square, including the seam allowances.

Kim stitched her Meandering quilt using the Vintage Farmhouse collection and added fabrics from her other lines to supplement her choices as her stash changed. Kim’s collections are designed to be interchangeable and have a scrap-basket feel, so taking this approach means you’ll always have plenty of options!

PieciNg the Quilt toPReferring to the pictured quilt, lay out the pieced blocks in four horizontal rows of three blocks each. Join the blocks in each row. Press the seam allowances open. Join the rows. Press the seam allowances open. The pieced quilt top should now measure 181/2" x 241/2", including the seam allowances.

coMPletiNg the QuiltLayer the quilt top, batting, and backing. Quilt the layers. Join the 21/2"-wide strips of dark blue print into one length and use it to bind the quilt.
